Wildlife camera 13:50 - Feb 22 with 1261 viewsclive_baker

Wondered if anyone had any experience or recommendations. My eldest is toddling now and absolutely loves animals, and takes great pride in her job to top up the bird seed.

I was thinking of investing in a discreet camera for the garden that doesn't disrupt the wildlife but could perhaps capture some footage. I know nothing about this area though, are there any that have an app so can be watched via phone / ipad?

Think there was a similar recent request, but can't recall details, sorry. Will have a look this eve if no-one else has found it by then.

I received a birdbox c/w cctv camera set up for my birthday... it was from a company called Green Feathers. It is connected to internet and viewed from my mobile or tablet. It is amazing.

They also do garden cameras for filming non-bird wildlife

Top Tip.... buy direct from the company rather than via eBay, I got one for my sister and it was cheaper and easier to get direct

Wonderful.

You could have worse birthday presents than that.

Prices aren't bad either to be fair.

What did you go for in the end?

The wildlife motion camera or the reasonably priced model?

Not much use right now, but a colleague uses one to watch Badgers who are living behind the University. Happy to ask him tomorrow?

We borrowed one, but Miss Slave says Bushnell is the answer.

Hmm, binoculars £750.

Looks like quality gear but possibly a bit over the top for the standard back garden.

Friend of mine is a very good wildlife photographer. I asked him what he used...

Mine's a Bushnell which I've had for quite a while, so it's a bit technically outdated (I think resolution is 1024x768) and the low-light capability is a bit grainy. But sure they've come a long way since then and will be much better now. Batteries last for ages and it's fully weather sealed so recommend them for that. I'd recommend having a look at the Bushnell range for specs and then looking on Amazon etc and see if there are similar ones by other manufacturers as I think there are more around these days. If it's for just in the garden, I've got Amazon Blink cameras dotted around which connect wi-fi to the house and you can view the footage on your phone. Resolution and weather-sealing is good, but needs to be within about 50yds or so of your router, so limited really to just the garden

Hope that helps
