Exposing a sex pest copper... on 09:00 - Mar 4 with 1188 views | Steve_M | Good to see that, as hollowed out as much local journalism in the UK now is, that a determined journalist properly backed by the paper can still produce important work. The decline of local journalism has been a great loss to this country. [Post edited 4 Mar 2022 9:55]

Without the newspaper funding the judicial review - she'd have simply hit a brick wall. The legal route available to her was prohibitive (liable for costs if she loses) which makes you wonder how many other dubious coppers remain protected / hidden from public view?

Local journalism demise is a great loss. I don’t understand why, if somebody is found guilty of an offence like that and fired accordingly, there’s a reluctance to make it and the perpetrator public knowledge. The victims should be protected, not the animals that prey on them.

Why would anyone want to be known as having covered up something rather than uncovered? Finally, does this individual bent Cooper now have to sign the sex offenders register?

I don't think he was convicted of a criminal act was he? Sacked (presumably) for gross misconduct.

It's because the police are still closing ranks and protecting their own. An utter disgrace.

Going off the Twitter thread I’m not sure if they are permitted, or at least advisable?

Whenever a post highlights police corruption, brutality or incompetence some prick has to add ACAB. It doesn’t add anything (and doesn’t take away the shocking behaviour of the officer) but makes whoever posts that reply look idiotic…or just edgy.

How many cover ups do we not know about though!
