Thinks we should be aiming for a 28k average home crowd. 22k already sold for Cambridge

We're getting well over 20k for relatively deadbeat games in L1 ... I think that means 30k is a perfectly reasonable capacity for where we are aiming to go.

I think if we were scoring more goals and were in with a real chance of the play-offs you'd see circa 4k more added to Saturday's gate

The hype around true promotion campaigns, around the town, draws a lot of part time blues back to PR

Overall capacity too big? Don't think so. Seem to remember when Town should have won the league back in 1981 the average was around 26,000 and several around 30,000 although the capacity in truth wasn't that high. Due to becoming all seater the new stands were built to tie in with having England games at PR as you had to have a capacity of at least 30,000. Not sure if it was the full England team or under 23's. Many years ago we played Leeds Utd in the FA Cup and there was just over 38,000 in the ground. Obviously before Elf and safety and Hillsborough. Imagine the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea, Man Utd and City and even West Ham. 30,000 plus no problem. That's why I believe the ground will be further developed. Let's face it those so called boxes in front of the Cobbold Stand opened in the 1970-71 season aren't fit for purpose now and I doubt the sale of restricted view tickets is that great.

It is easy to envisage the Premier League, at some stage, setting a minimum level for ground capacity. Realistically that would be 30,000.

highly unlikely we could average 28k for season. Only ever achieved it once -

More likely to be around the 25k mark if things go well

Those figures are not complete/accurate. The 28k is based on just 5 matches attendances.

From memory we averaged 24k in 80/81 which I think was our peak. Must be available somewhere.

End of an era in North Lower?

Yep, been coming tbh.

Can’t stand it 90% of the time, I get there will be ‘experts’ all around the stadium, but I’m hoping the ones upstairs causally discuss the game with mate as opposed to shouting it at tops of voices.

We’ll be good again... one day

And if you looked back I expect you would find other clubs averaged less than they do now as well. It's all relative.

In fact assuming these are accurate, lots of clubs were getting attendances that season that they would be appalled by now.

Oh look who is fourth from bottom. Almost like the idea they've always been well supported is a myth

One example - Leeds averaged 21,000 ish in 1980-81. This season it's 36,000.
