Wasn't Kane offside? (n/t) on 22:32 - Jun 7 by PhilTWTD

Thought the German player knocked Kane's foot onto his other foot as he ran across him. Looked a penalty all day to me, assuming he wasn't offside.

It was certainly more of a penalty than the one Hungary were given on Saturday.

Kane was onside according to all rules of the game and it was definitely a penalty. The referee last evening gave a very good performance in my opinion.
A good draw against world class opponents on their own patch. I am a big Southgate fan; he knows what he is doing and like our own manager here at ITFC his interviews are always honest and informative.

If he was onside, then I was well ahead of my time in the late 80's as a goal hanger.

So the cross wasn't for Keane - so he wasn't offside. The ball then came to him via a German player - so again, not offside.

Thems the rules (Which I accept seem bollox) and VAR applied them.

Don't know if he was offside but assuming he wasn't, it was a fairly obvious pen

Haven't seen it, but apparently a German player played the ball last.

So it's irrelevant if Kane was offside at any point before that - the German playing the ball starts another phase of play, in which it doesn't matter where Kane is as he can't be offside when an opponent deliberately plays the ball. (and for reference, it's different to the CL Final as the Liverpool defender didn't deliberately play the ball, it hit him inadvertantly).

To me with the Benzema one I never felt they explained whether Valverde touched the ball or not, if he didn't how could Benzema be offside if the ball came back to him without touching another Real player. Or did everyone just assume Valverde got a touch on the ball (looked to me that the two Liverpool defenders knocked it into each other)

Certainly looked it to me when they shew the first replay. England were poor for most of the game and got lucky.

Upvoted for the use of "shew".
