Economic crisis....anyone cutting back 19:13 - Jun 17 with 8884 views | gtsb1966 | Keep reading in the news of 1 in 4 cutting back on food, not using the car as much and not having takeaways or nights out. Anyone on here cutting back on anything. The really worrying thing is that if it's hard now imagine what the winter is going to bring. I'm definitely being more energy efficient. Took so much for granted in the past.

But you say that from a position of privilege which demonstrates a massive lack of empathy. I’m doing fine and don’t need anyone’s help, but I’m not gonna go and tell a single parent working a 60 hour week to feed their kids and pay the rent half the ill informed pap you’ve shared here. The world is more complex, varied and evolving than some snippets you were handed down from your family 20 years ago based on a limited perspective of experience.

Economic crisis....anyone cutting back on 10:37 - Jun 22 by monytowbray | Okay so you got a house in 2004. Could you do that in 2022 at 19 with the same graft? How much more graft would you need? Would you potentially argue circumstances like not going to uni and or therefore graduating not long before the 2008 banking crash could have had an impact? Another example - by the time I left school in 2003 most my mates were lucky to find an apprenticeship full stop. Again, you benefit from the luck of the year you were born. This is the problem. Luck and circumstances are just as important in the real world as hard work, often even more important (you think for example Musk would be Musk without his family background or Zucks would be Zucks if he didn’t steal Facebook?). Yet we’ve been sold this BS hustle culture that all success is on the individual in a free market where everyone is equal. It’s factually incorrect and illogical to common sense, yet still regularly pushed. Those who fear equality or fairness - I often feel that says more about their own fear if the playing field was level. [Post edited 22 Jun 2022 10:39]

thank fck my mum and dad had a bonk when they did then, god forbid they waited 3 mores years and i'd have not been lucky enough to get an apprenticeship as they'd ALL gone. and to answer your question, working out what my wage would be now if starting my apprenticeship, added to the fact i brought a shthole that needed loads of work doing to it, then yes i think i'd be fine, might have taken a year or two more, but i'd have got there. i knew i didnt want to waste any time going to uni, i wanted to stand on own two feet, earn money, and start a life for myself. i care very little for those that just went to uni for a few years on the p1ss , then sit here in 2022 saying they were unlucky to have missed out of X Y Z, and blame everyone else. but thats just me "Those who fear equality or fairness - I often feel that says more about their own fear if the playing field was level." - you ever wonder if you totally over think life?!

Life is more complex, I think you underthink most things and it shows. Your grasp on reality is from one perspective - that of Texters - and very little outside information, be it facts or the experiences of others, is allowed anywhere near that thought process.

what reality do i need to think about? my life is too busy, full to the brim, whether that be work, kids, wifes work, Town, exercise.... i have no time to start worrying about things i cant do anything about. and i'm cool with that. my mind is sound, start sticking too much sht in the brain that you cant change and you'll crack up. I’m not single and subscribe to the idea I can be the change I want to see in the world. The fact you believe thinking about anyone but yourself is too time consuming says more about your personality than I could. Sounds almost sociopathic. You are part of this planet, not a separate entity that runs in it’s own eco system. You have enough time to reply on here, perhaps use that time ditching responding to read/think about what is said, over having to have an instant rebuttal within 10 minutes (which suggests you’re being defensive from a place of self-worth and little else). Your experiences alone mean very little in context to society or science, let alone the universe. [Post edited 22 Jun 2022 11:25]

Nothing you listed on your concerns was outside of your world and your own self-interests. Classic “I’m doing fine, f**k the rest of ya” attitude that free market capitalism has caused over the last 40 years. You say I’m nuts but the longer this goes on, and the more you avoid addressing what I say for dismissive insults with no evidence or logic attached, the more I am at peace with having a brain capable of spending 5 minutes in the shoes of others. I’m not trying to put you down, I’m explaining why your world view may be limited in reality by (as you admit) refusing to look at it beyond your own perspective. If you feel this is a put down you’ve clearly never been to therapy, as you are largely projecting your own internalised processes onto me. I think it would benefit you a lot to get some CBT. just for the record, i got rid of the nuts part as didnt want it being taken the wrong way, im a cnt, but not that much of a cnt. "Nothing you listed on your concerns was outside of your world and your own self-interests" i dont have to justify a single moment of my day to you, but the majority of it is taken up with work, kids, my life. much the same as others, if they can fit in time to panic and worry about X Y Z fair play to them. but to put your mind at rest, there are countless things i do, and situations i go above and beyond to help others, i just dont come on here and preach to others about it.

Everyone on here has faced tough times in different periods, early nineties with Interest Rates at 18% wasn't fun, no one has had an easy ride as far as I can see, and I totally get that currently trying to find £20k for a deposit on a house is absurd, but when I was trying to find £8k, it was just as overwhelming at the time. FWIW I think this notion we are fed that utopia is owning your own house is outdated and not fit for purpose, which is why most of mainland Europe rent. Us all arguing about who has had it harder is classic divide and conquer, I'd rather see a different alternative where the playing field is only a small slide at best and level at worst, but we are so far away from that and sadly I just can't see it happening.

I’m not trying to divide and conquer anyone. In fact the opposite. I’m trying to explain that one person’s journey and perspective means very little and to open that divide with consideration. It’s nor a suffering competition. A lot of these middle/working class well-to-do brackets of society will soon learn the hard way what it’s like to walk in the shoes of someone who has it worse. Shame that’s what it will take to kick some perspective into them. Driving a Range Rover won’t get you into the elite circle even if you rub shoulders at the golf club. Many will be begging the financial safety nets we did away with in society as “life isn’t fair, work harder” were still there when the tightrope wobbles. Remember when people suddenly realised £94 a week barely enough to live on when COVID started and NHS staff are underpaid? We’ve done nothing about it but clap. And when we’re all in poverty as AI took all the jobs and any financial benefit from it stayed with the 1%, you won’t be able to protest without prison, nor defend the right to food/shelter as a human essential in the new Bill Of Rights (which we all know under this gov will be a sh1tshow to aid their corruption). In that regard, one person’s experience of one fraction of a lifetime means very little to reality. That’s a fairly simple point to grasp, yet here I am still making the case for it and it not getting through.

If you help others and care a good way to demonstrate that is to, ya know, show it in your general attitude Showing a basic level of empathy in your day-to-day life or views isn’t showing off. The fact you think it is, again, shows a worrying level of projection - I think like this therefore the world must think like this too. The brain processes and labels we put on the behaviour of others are from the stories we tell ourselves and our own experiences/reactions, rather than acknowledge the thoughts and processes in their brains could be very different and unique to them . For example, many diagnosed with A-SPD describe a realisation that the emotions and feelings of others are real, and not faked/exaggerated for self gain like they can do themselves. Some people stick up for others because they are nice, or because they relate/experienced similar situations. The world isn’t some big LOOK AT ME show when anyone does a good thing, and I’d find life depressing if I believed that. Get some CBT, I 100% recommend it. You may feel like I’m being rude but I can’t help but read what you type and wonder what positive influence it will have on you. [Post edited 22 Jun 2022 12:08]

Cognitive behavioural therapy. Was a big perspective shift for me and has done wonders for my world view/mental health. Just frames things in a way where light bulbs go off. Well done on the no chicken burger!

I’m actually trying to relay some of the stuff I’ve learned through it. I don’t think promoting the idea of others getting it (I’d quite like to normalise it) in line with view points it could assist with is beating anyone with a stick. And in context to wider discussion it would be obvious that’s not what I am doing. It could be seen as a bit off I admit, but it doesn’t come from a place of bad intentions. To add, the now edited reply accused me of being “nuts as a squirrel” too, which Texteds acknowledged and removed. So added context as to why a comment relating to my MH and “look at yourself” would have arrose. On those notes I’d say perhaps the benefit of the doubt would be nice, particularly the latter point which completely reframes the intention of debate. [Post edited 22 Jun 2022 13:14]
