Dobra to Chesterfield 15:11 - Jun 24 with 3262 viewsFrimleyBlue

Not quite the £5 mill to Arsenal I had in mind, but also surprising to see him potentially go to the manager that Banned him from the club ;)

Strange. From what I've seen of him he seems good enough for this level... but then hardly got a look in at Colchester and now off to Chesterfield.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Am I remembering wrongly or did we turn down a bid for him from Brighton just a couple of years ago?

Yes, we did, see below. Cook may want him at Chesterfield but not definite he'll get him, think AD will be looking for an EFL club ideally.

Seems that Dobra and El Miz have never really had a chance to establish themselves here. Of course that’s from the outside looking in. Maybe they’re just not good enough or suited for us. But El Miz from his few brief appearances looked decent. Certainly no worse than Bakinson.

El Mizouni didn't have a bad game for us last season, and he played both games against Sheff Wed. I'm surprised he didn't get more of a chance.

He may well get his chance again, from what I'm told the plan is to send him out on loan with a view to having a future here.

But the overall point is right, I think, that Dobra, El Mizouni and Bailey Clements might well have been given more of a chance if they weren't coming through at a time when the club has money and is looking at more experienced players.

I think only El Miz can feel hard done by.

Baily Clements look woefully short of what we needed and has probably found his level. It was crazy that Cook played him in that run of games.

Dobra has not really done much of any note and his loan at Colchester was very underwhelming. By comparison El Miz did ok at Camb before his injury and had done well enough in games for us. He is the unlucly one in a position we were well covered.
However all that said i would have picked Bakinson every time over El Miz.

I know we are desperate for our own to do it, but if they're not good enough, they're not good enough. Plenty of players have had a chance here and not done it and hardly gone on to bigger and better things so it would indicate we are not doing anything wrong and are right to bring in better caliber of player.

Fingers crossed Humphreys is the one that is the one who excels and becomes a 1st team regular.

I think it's unfair to make judgements until they've played a significant number of first-team games. Clements, who was picked as PC trusted him more than the other options from what I gather, will get the chance to do so at Chesterfield, El Mizouni will do wherever he goes on loan and Dobra when he finds a club. He's not far off winning a full Albania cap, they really like him. Needs a manager who has similar faith in him at club level.

They tend to get spoken about like some sort of double headed beast, but I think they've demonstrated very different levels in a Town shirt. El Miz certainly looks to have some level of consistency and maturity to his game and I don't think he's bad at all. Dobra I really don't see where he fits into a side, the occasional step over and impressive skill is fine if you're playing street football, but he's not someone you would hang your hat on. His decision making is poor, with and without the ball which has landed him in hot water. He's a bit of an enigma. Sort of player that will end his career having played for about 15 clubs but few for very long.

Yes agree. Have never quite understood the fuss about Dobra. Street footballer is a description.
He may have all the tricks but contributes very little that is meaningful in the games of football i've seen him play.

At Colchester he either tried to do it all on his own and lost the ball or was pretty much anonymous.

I don't think nearing a full cap with Albania means a lot Phil.

Frederic Verseli now has 41 Albania caps and don't think many Town fans would be screaming to have him back in the side.

They probably like him because he is skilful and looks good, but when it comes to influencing a game of football i don't see it.

He may come good, good luck to him but I don't think he'll play above the level we find ourselves at.

Veseli has spent most of the last few seasons playing in Serie A, so hasn't done too badly for himself.

Think Dobra is one who could go either way, drop down into the National League or go somewhere and fulfil his potential. His next move is a very important one for him.

In his defence, he’s had to try and establish himself in what has been an absolute basket case of a club for 3 or 4 years. Can’t be easy for any player let alone a youngster trying to prove themselves to shine when we were averaging a new manager every year.

I just can’t see it.

I very much believe PC would want him at Chesterfield, but I personally he could operate at this level with the right set up, probably not with us now.

I think he’d do well at a club like Exeter, where they seem to develop good talents, just come up from L2, seemingly play a decent brand of football last year.

No way he should be dropping to non-league in my opinion.

Dobra's problem is decision making. He needs games and some decent coaching. For all our gripes with PC, he did seem to get him firing in pre season last year. If I was him I'd be keen to go somewhere with a coach that likes him, where he will play every week and can really make his mark. Another dud L2 loan spell and his career is almost done.

Not sure El Miz looks physically up to this League yet. That was the strength of Bakinson, although according to Bristol we've decided against taking up our option to sign him permanently.
