The Fans Forum 06:20 - Sep 6 with 6259 views | chicoazul | All this chat about infrastructure and staff and projects and etc and etc It’s not really…..us is it? This professionalism and briskness and laser guided focus. It makes me feel uneasy, is the only way I can describe it. There’s something off about it. I can’t put my finger on it. Assuming as so often nobody else feels this way?

The Fans Forum on 16:37 - Sep 6 by Dyland | Agree with all that, except to state the obvious that football has changed. So if you want ITFC to be successful you have to go with the flow. As I said earlier, even a savvy Suffolk boy done good would need to go the corporate bollix route to have success. What you're essentially saying is you would rather Town stayed put (or even worse) than be a corporate entity with identikit soundbites to any other big business. I kind of get the Ashton pisstake but I infer more than mere ad hominem internet mockery from you. And why the beef? He's done a good job and the plan must look sensible or there is no way the yanks would be investing. The idea he's just a chancer is based on... what? Unfair imo. Though yes yes yes it could all go tits up, but that's the game. Let's talk about McKenna instead. I'd love to get some negative thoughts to put his start here in perspective :) |
Why is being realistic negative? I guess it depends who you are and where you come from. I’ve been living well away from Suffolk now a lot longer than I lived there - I simply prefer to remember what Ipswich Town was in my formative years - as far as I’m concerned it’s Ipswich in name only now. I was simply trying to point out that O’Leary and Ashton had been flogging their model for a good while - and it could have been anywhere that ‘benefitted’ from a nibble - just as Evans faxed a shortlist on clubs with potential. The ones who didn’t respond by and large have done much better. Ashton and O’Leary have won the lottery already. I suspect they also have a nice bonus lined up for promotion - it’s then that things get interesting. Probably only six clubs in the third division think they belong in the Prem. In the championship it’s more like 20 - and it’s a division Town couldn’t compete in under Evans. McKenna? The first ‘Town manager’ since Robson if you believe in the Cobbold ‘project’. I think he’s even come to terms with the third division - though remains a tad overly defensive. The problem is Town can’t keep him IF he’s successful. I suspect he’ll be gone before Easter. And I’m waiting for a few testing games against top half teams to see just how genuine Town’s well overdue promotion challenge is in an utterly uncompetitive division. They could yet be this season’s MK Dons - the best team in the division losing out to more pragmatic opponents Negative enough for you?

If your aim in life is to be known as that tiresome prick on a football message board then mission accomplished for him, I guess. Seems like a lot of work to keep up the contrived edginess for all these years.

It must be quite psychologically damaging to put so much creative energy into desperately trying to find negatives all the time, thinking you're upsetting actual fans. Not sure why someone would want to pay that price really, when they must realise that must of us just laugh at their desperate attempts, but each to his own.

Would you say that someone like Elephant gets a massive hard-on every time someone posts about him? If that’s the case are we all basically fluffers?

You’re welcome. Ashton deserves a lot of credit for recruiting McKenna And for recruiting players familiar with the third division.

I believe she is a club archivist. Now there's an Ipswich Town legend.

Being realistic is about taking a balanced view. Being objective. Seeing what others have to say and agreeing or disagreeing. Good and bad, positive or negative. You don’t do that. You have never done that. You just poke with your pathetic little stick and hope for a response. You as an ITFC supporter is about as realistic as me being a brain surgeon. You are not. That’s fine. There seems to be a desire not to ban you. No idea why but that’s the prerogative of this forum’s brilliant administrators.

One thing you can be certain of. BB isn’t the sort to throw wild claims around without very good evidence. He’ll be back shortly with the smoking gun…

'Ex ITFC supporter' would perhaps be accurate :) I honestly don't see the problem with his comments. Indeed, during and immediately after administration a lot of it was fair and certainly valid. It's a polemic, sure, but not without insight and intellect. I don't think Nerdy (or whatever else he was called) is a troll in the bad sense, it's just a different take and narrative. Is there an agenda? For sure. But he's never been abusive (that I can recall), even twenty years ago when this forum was more like Twitter for the keyboard warlord insults and stuff even the sensible posters would never say to people's faces.
