You're now doing it the correct way. As long as you're smothering the PB when the toast is still hot so it melts...

mmmmmmm - But I should have added that it does have to be the crunchy variety

OK, feck it, next time I cook a roast I'm gonna slip a few onion rings in and see how they go. I am partial to a bit of dipping. What's the worse that can happen?

I promise you’ll be pleasantly surprised at the combination.

For what it’s worth, I’m genuinely of the opinion that if a Sunday roast is ‘British culture’, it should be illegal for ketchup to be selected over gravy. It’s outrageous.

Ok ill humour you on this...
So what goes on sunday lunch?? You have onion ring but no ketchup but dip in gravy...... what else?

But this is very similar to my original point about butter + peanut butter. I dont think you need the extra butter on a croissant. I mean, the croissant is 95% butter already - you really only need the raspberry jam to make it perfect

Surely only a mad man would add butter to a croissant?

Yer clearly of open mind and a man of the gastronomical world Rommers. I wonder if I could share with you a guilty pleasure from my youth you may enjoy. Pot noodle an chips! Easy an quick to make.. my personal favourite was the chicken and mushroom flavour poured over chips but curry flavour works just as well

Wasn't thinking of covering um with gravy, but rather placing um on the side and gently dipping um in the gravy as recommended by the chef. I miss English cuisine... By the way what kinda butter do you put on yer biscuits and definitely not on yer croissants? Kerrygold I hope?

Oh I do. A fresh warm croissant with a little good quality cold butter and boy, what a treat! You don’t even need the jam. Oh, I’m all in for butter on croissants!

I’m going to try onion rings with gravy. What’s not to like? On the side, hot and crispy, gravy at the ready for dipping. Feeling hungry!

I can see how that might work. Not a fan of pot noodle but proper curry over chips is great.

Mind you, curry and baked beans with bacon, fried tomato and hash browns with toast is a breakfast feast!

In your defence I tend to agree with you on butter.

I love pure unsalted butter. And yes even on croissant over jam.

Jam is too sweet for croissant.

That actually sounds alright.

Some of my northern friends introduced me to cheesy chips and gravy. I was suprised at how nice it is considering it sounds disgusting

So that’s now Churchman and Leitrim both giving it a go.

Who else wants to join the gravy train? First stop is the Onion Ring road.

Pub called the Spread Eagle in York used to do something called the "UFO" - an enormous yorkshire pudding filled with onion gravy and roast beef - washed down with Timothy Taylors Landlord - does that count?
