In Stuart Watson’s 7 observations article on EADT today he says:
‘Comparing fixtures on a like-for-like basis, Ipswich are already a staggering 25 points up on last season.’
So that means we only got 5 points from those equivalent 13 fixtures last season. That seems hard to believe but I guess it’s true.
By the same token even if we only equalled the points haul from the other 33 fixtures last season, which was 65 we would end up on 95 points which would surely get us automatic promotion |  |

Yes, that looks about right.
However, as the weekend results showed, you can take nothing for granted. Personally, we've doing well, especially given the injuries we've had, a very long way to go still. |  |

Barnsley were the worst relegated side and we matched our result with the worst promoted side last season (Sunderland).
Forest Green were the best promoted side, we beat the best relegated side (Gillingham) home and away.
Bristol Rovers were the third best promoted side and we drew our home game with the 3rd best relegated side (Wimbledon), so +2.

However, as the weekend results showed, you can take nothing for granted. Personally, we've doing well, especially given the injuries we've had, a very long way to go still. |
Have the injuries been that bad? It's not as if we've had a Morsy or a Walton out for the season. It's been back-ups / squad players who've been injured. For a few months at worst. We can get by without Aluko, Ahadme, Burgess and Leigh for a while. The biggest annoyance is that we've got to replace Davis for 20 mins a game with KVY and not Leigh. And Camara has also been injured - but he's never even played a minute and I haven't a clue how we fit him in the 18.

Statistical comparison with last season by Nthsuffolkblue 6 Aug 2022 15:08If we take each match as a comparison replacing the promoted and relegated teams with those directly replacing them ...
After 1 match we are +1 point, +3 GD and -1 GF.
Today's match Forest Green replace Gillingham who we beat 0-4 away so we that is our "par" score.
Of course, we won't improve/match every result all season but overall we need to be up something like 20 points by the end of the season.
I will try to keep tabs on this after each match.

Should be +2 on Portsmouth as we drew at home last season and +2 on Shrewsbury although that doesn’t change the overall total in your calculation. | | | |

Agree - I'm sure he could last the full 90 but think he covers far more ground than most of the team. If you listen to any of the other players talk about him they reference how much he gets up and down the pitch. | |

Quite, but also keeps more of the squad directly involved in real play time.
Doesn't matter how much you tell players their presence is valued, game time is where it's at and where they wanna be.
Keep them involved and on their toes and ready to slot straight in when necessary. |  |
