LGBT Fans have to show respect and 'compromise' 14:43 - Oct 26 with 4413 views | Mookamoo | https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-63401193 Compromise what exactly? Qatari homophobia? LGBT fans very right to exist? I for one will not be watching one minute of this World Cup. Absolute farce.

LGBT Fans have to show respect and 'compromise' on 15:48 - Oct 26 by Mookamoo | Cleverly just had a call from someone in Qatar about Peter Tatchell and they want him to nip any dissent in the bud. He could have prefaced any statement with a comment about supporting our LGBT fans and criticising Qatar's stance but chose not do. Its all about the money and I for one will not be complicit. |
Are you going to boycott the world cup? Fair play if so.

I am also going to boycott it……yea….but……I may have had a second team I like to follow. On a more serious note, He could have conveyed a message, that didn’t put a degree of responsibility on any likely victims, and could have expressed a degree of empathy. E.g. we know it is going to be difficult, the LGBT supporters are naturally going to be wary, they are facing a difficult situation that was created by third parties we have no control over, but we will support our LGBT football fans during the WC. Seemed to me he was basically playing the both sides gambit in that interview.

I won't watch any of it. To be absolutely honest, that's not a huge issue as I've been pretty indifferent to England for the last few years. I'll just contact the Partners and vocally not watch it to make a point. It will be interesting to see how the likes of Coke can justify their involvement. I'm sure they all hade rainbow flag profile pictures during Pride Month.

LGBT Fans have to show respect and 'compromise' on 14:55 - Oct 26 by itfcjoe | Well it's fairly obvious what they need to do, or not do isn't it? I was in Dubai for Ramadan one year, my wife had to cover up if we left the hotel, we weren't allowed to eat or drink in public, no public displays of affection. We had to compromise, minor compromises in reality compared to what LGBT people will have to do but if they choose to visit a place with backwards rules then they have to ensure that they don't do things that will potentially draw unwanted attention to themselves |
Haven't read the whole thread so apologies if my opinion has been covered but the World Cup should never have been given to such an oppressive nation. It is one thing going on holiday and respecting covering your face and not shagging on the beach of an evening but not being able to actually be gay is against your human rights. I hope that the winning team do a lap of honour whilst holding hands with rainbow scarves around their neck and skipping like a bunch of old fruits.

Those sodding gays expecting to be treated like equals. They should just shut up and stop moaning about it. Here's the thing pal, bigots like you give them the motivation to keep on. You may not like it but I suspect they don't give a fck. And why should they?

Pretty horrible post there. It's a false equivalence to say it's like a tourist visiting the UK and abiding by our laws because one is based on human rights and (mostly) tries to treat people equally and one clearly isn't. SB
