What a player. Hard to believe he’s only 19. He has it all.

He has the potential to be the best box to box midfielder in the world.

He made that goal..broke from defence, rode a tackle and put a killer ball through. Amazing! Could be the player of the World Cup of we go far.

If he stays the course, could be in a WC in 2026 (23), 2030 (27), 2034 (31) and maybe ages like Modriic and CR7 2038 (35).

For those of us of a certain age, he looks the best since Duncan Edwards.

From what I hear of Duncan Edwards I sure hope so.

He's not quite at Warkys level.

Ade Akinbiyi couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo...

I don't remember a lot of him in his prime. Ipswich's best ever player?

I think so (but never saw the Ramsey team) but Sir Bobby has Kevin Beattie in that spot and most are unwilling to disagree with his judgement.

But Wark outscored Mariner and Brazil from central midfield, whilst also having to do all the midfield tackling because Muhren couldn't and Thijssen couldn't without fouling.

And then he outscored Ian Rush and Kenny Dalglish in his first season at Liverpool, from central midfield.

He is certainly our greatest goalscoring central midfielder, and it can be argued that he is the greatest goalscoring central midfielder in English League football of the past 50 years, by sheer quantity of goals and by virtue of having done it without the luxury of Essien or Makelele behind him mopping up, which gave Lampard a lot more security.

Sadly I don't remember Kevin Beattie as player. I did meet him a few times as a boy when he was landlord of a pub on Woodbridge Road East. My dad raves about him saying he could have been the next Bobby Moore if not for injuries.

The pass was wonderful and shows what you can do if you can actually pass with both feet. I'm still amazed at how many professional players will only use their weaker foot for standing.
