let's see what happens

Poll: If ITFC were to be relegated, would McKenna be poached to manage in the Prem?

I still feel really positive about this season.

Are there things that we need to work on, absolutely. I'm sure McKenna knows that and is working on them. But we have lost 3 games all season. 3.

Some of our more recent bad results, as much as it seems like a cop out, we have just been extremely unlucky. Fleetwood home, nothing shot from 30 yards deflects in the top corner. Plymouth, we take the lead and defend it really well, it takes a deflected strike for them to beat us.

That is what's separating us from Wednesday right now, two bits of bad luck. I still believe we will get top two.

I agree.

We are still the most dominant team in the division both defensively and in attack.

The luck will begin to go our way and other teams will start to drop points.

No need to cry in January.

The stats suggest that, but for the first time frankly, on the basis of Saturday I do not think we can expect do better than Plymouth in the run in. They are frankly a better team than just the pure chances on target/goals scored stats suggest. They are top for very good reason.

Don’t think it’s infeasible to catch Plymouth. Win our game in hand and the gap is 4 points. They’ve got a massive game at Sheffield Wednesday coming up that’s very losable for them and it’s potentially just 1 point in it….all depends on us just not continuing to screw up winning positions!

We will go on a run and other teams will not keep up their form.
Points will be dropped in the most unlikely of fixtures.
This happens to every team, in every season.

It seems in such contrast to those who were continually up-playing the chances under previous managers where 4 or 5 wins on the trot would soon help us close the gap despite us having only won something like 35% of the matches previously.

I think the 'melting' if any is coming from you,

Fans were naturally upset by the late goal, and the fact we are now 3rd, But I don't sense any over reaction or giving up.

You should maybe calm down and accept fans initial reactions to what was a bit of a kick in the gonads.

Most have got their wind back are are full on behind the club - so no need for any over reaction.

I don’t think we’ve had a 6 or more game winning run in years…we must be due.

The most this season so far is 4. Another run like that would be good.

Last season we never got more than 2 wins on the bounce in the league.

The season before we got 3 on the trot twice.

Our first season down our best was 4 on the trot.

I should imagine there weren't many long winning runs in the Championship for quite some time. In the 2014-15 play-off season the most was 4.

We should be more than capable of it in this league really. Didn’t Mick have a start to the season with 5 wins in the Waghorn season?

4 on the trot. Lost to Fulham in the fifth.

If you count the EFL Cup match it was 5 on the trot.

Well recalled! Probably have to go back to a Burley team for a proper run!

Indeed. As frustrating our recent form / blip has been, just need to enjoy the ride. - We’ve endured absolute dross for the last 20 years, we’ve got the best team we’ve had for years, playing the best football we have for years.

20 games to go, I’m sure it’s going to be a fun ride and hope it ends in promotion.

I dont think there is much between the teams at the top and and as for Plymouth if we had drawn at their place and we win our game in hand there's a point between us. If we'd won on Sat then we go ahead. It's such fine margins.

And FWIW I think they are very much on the crest of a wave at the top of their levels. I think if we can be more clinical and just see out games a bit better then there's much more to come from us. The stats back that up.

We are very much in this, some of the reaction after the last 3 games is comical. Neither Argyle or Sheff Wed have bettered our results against Pompey and Lincoln. Yet many thought it was the end of the world.

From a Stuart Watson article:

The last time Town won five league games in a row was back in October 2003 - that run included a 6-1 home trouncing of Burnley and a 4-3 win at Palace that was sealed by Shefki Kuqi's dramatic last goal.

It's further back than this but I swear we won something stupid like 10 in a row under Burley one season?

I'm sure Mckenna is looking at this and seeing.

We dominate the stats, most goals, most chances created, most possession and we have just brought in Hirst and Broadhead to try and convert more chances. He knows what's needed. Its also important not to forget, this is his first full season in management.

I'm still optimistic we will do it, but based on the last 10 league games 35% would have been an improvement so you could argue that's what is happening now
