One of the MoneyBall rules.... 15:33 - Jan 19 with 6313 views | itfcjoe | ....is to look to continually replace your weakest player. Think an argument that this does that, as great as JD has been, since we've gone to more of a 4 at the back I think he has struggled, especially on the ball, and feels he is very much at his ceiling (at least playing for a side who dominates the ball). Should be a fair sized upgrade, and just the sheer athleticism and physicality of Clarke is going to help us out - he's an absolute specimen

One of the MoneyBall rules.... on 18:13 - Jan 19 by TRUE_BLUE123 | I think we have an affection for him as he’s been bl00dy brillaint for us. Attacking wise and defensive. He’s not A weak link at all in my eyes. That whole right side has been less effective simply because Burns is being double marked which in turn has led to more output from the left side. I’m happy with the signing but as I’ve stated on previous posts, I think the critique of Donacien has been slightly overblown due to a shiny new player coming in. |
I don't like doing 'this' but ^ this ^

He’s definitely not, HC is at least 6’2 and built like a brick outhouse

Oh OK, I was going on the wikipedia stats that you get when you google him (not sure the weight is there when you actually click through). Elsewhere it has his weight as higher, but he is still said to be shorter than Donacien. I'm always happy to stand corrected though, as I've never weighed or measured the guy :)

Your first sentence is pretty much what I had in mind - he’s been excellent for the last 18 months or more. Think we’ve got to get used to players we like being replaced by others who are better. It’s not been an ipswich way for 20 years so it’s a bit of a noval idea to get used to! Whether he’s ‘the weakest link’ in the current team is a matter of opinion; I certainly didn’t mean it as a criticism.

That’s fair enough. I really like the signing. I watched Harry a lot at youth level and know people who played with him. He’s a great kid and will quickly be some a fan’s favourite

One of the MoneyBall rules.... on 23:03 - Jan 19 with 1236 views | Simonds92 | Don't necessarily agree JD is in any way a weak link. In the last couple of months i have wondered why we haven't continued with the 3 4 2 1 though as it seems to suit all our players better, especially Janoi. No doubts Clarke is direct competition for him, but i do wonder if he would also be suited to a 3 ? Not seen much of him other than a few highlights earlier in the season but the club website specifically describes him as a centre half rather than a RB: "The centre-half has since gained valuable Championship experience, making 20 appearances for Stoke City in the first half of this term." One of the MoneyBall rules.... on 17:35 - Jan 19 by clive_baker | Camara is also only 25. It's obviously disappointing that he's been injured since he arrived but I wouldn't be writing him off yet, he looked quality for Plymouth. |
I feel Camara has been desperately unlucky injury wise. I was absolutely delighted when we signed him as he looked a proper handful at Plymouth. I think he will come good and surprise a few on here who seem to be writing him off.
One of the MoneyBall rules.... on 11:22 - Jan 20 with 944 views | OldFart71 | I remember hearing about an International Company that has a local factory and it may or may not have been true. But no reason to believe it was not true, in that their warehouse was run on the basis that those working there were supposed to pick a certain number or goods per day/week. The weakest or underperforming person would be replaced. Sometimes in the past it has truly amazed me how managers have come out with the rubbish that we will only get players in that improve the team/squad, only to be found that they are no better or even worse that what we had. No club is ever going to get everything right. Some have spent astronomical sums of money on duds. I suppose the art really is to make sure that at least 75% of what you bring in brings about an improvement and you then try to achieve an even higher percentage of players make you a better team.

One of the MoneyBall rules.... on 17:42 - Jan 19 by Illinoisblue | Which begs the question, if Camara was that good or had that much potential, why were Plymouth willing to let him sign for a division rival? Let’s hope it’s a gamble that can yet pay off. |
They weren’t willing at all. He wasn’t going to sign a new contract and they sold him to get some cash.
