If we get Clarke in, thats c.£4.5+m in transfer fees paid out this season. 21:39 - Jan 19 with 6269 views | Marshalls_Mullet | I can understand why other teams don't like us!! £1m Davis. £600k Harness. £500k Camara. £1.5m Broadhead. £1.0m Clarke. £300k Ahadme. Plus decent loan fee for Hirst and John Jules I would think. Dont get me wrong, its good to see the investment, and on the face of it there should be some good upside to Davis, Broadhead and Clarke. They should also be very capable of the step up to the Championship if we make it. The recruitment reminds me of the Burley days.

They inferred that they had something like 800 million so in the context of things 4.5 is not much and bearing in mind players sold, sell on fees, gates etc have added to our ability to buy. The old saying "Speculate to accumulate" seems their idea. I'm not one hundred percent behind buying players based on charts, computer analysis or whatever this system is. But I suppose it's better than merely watching a highlights video. Some of the players brought in I suggest are longer term and some just to hopefully push us up to the Championship. Where Gamechanger make their money I'm not sure as if you are trying to ultimately achieve Premiership status and remain in that Division that means an upgrade on some currently in this squad which in turn involves big bucks. I think we will have the Gamechanger guys behind us for quite a few years. To make money on a football club isn't easy. Let's enjoy the ride whilst we can.

That said, given how much misery we’ve had to endure for my entire time as a town fan, if anybody deserves to buy their way to some success it’s us. |

If we get Clarke in, thats c.£4.5+m in transfer fees paid out this season. on 22:31 - Jan 19 by FrimleyBlue | People won't like it. But there is serious serious pressure on KM and Ashton to get us up. I think we're 2 away. 1 further CM and one to compete on that right side and we'll be on our way. |
I've got a different take on this..I think there would be a lot more pressure on KM, had we not further recruited during this window.. The few cracks I've noticed in his post match presses, have come out of frustration, when we were low on (quality) numbers.... These additions are just the boost he needs. He'll thrive now. Even if it takes a game or two to really get us going again. Wouldn't mind seeing a top CM added, either. Given Evans injury record, not sure hed last the season going flat out. (And we are going to need to go flat out, now). Perhaps the versatility of Clarke would come into play, here though, for games where Humphreys physicality might come into question ? I do like the Clarke signing. From the vid you posted, he looks strong, quick , powerful and brave. Not that YT Vids tell the whole story. But I believe he can play a midfield role if needed.

Not really, it is possible to have mixed thoughts/feelings about something. Not everything is black and white. Ultimately if we get promoted I won’t give a sh1t how much money we’ve spent as I’ll be delighted.

If we get Clarke in, thats c.£4.5+m in transfer fees paid out this season. on 07:30 - Jan 20 by CaptainAhab | Doesn't seem like buying our way out of this league to me. That would surely be buying up grizzled old pros to do a job this season with no thought beyond that. Our transfer business seems much more like building for the future and eminently sensible whichever Division we're in next season. Hopefully we've built a squad that will compete in the championship next season. |
I think buying the league is buying the league regardless of what age the players in question are or their future potential. The fact that we are buying players with a higher ceiling just means we are doing it smartly rather than stupidly (like Derby or Wednesday in the Championship, or to a lesser extent us under Keane). Like I’ve said, if we get promoted I ultimately won’t care as after such a long period of misery we deserve some success and I know we will be well set up for the Championship.

If we get Clarke in, thats c.£4.5+m in transfer fees paid out this season. on 22:03 - Jan 19 by Mullet | After the poverty and drift of Evans and watching him hide behind decent men like Mick whilst so many others spent and cheated their way up as we withered, fcuk 'em all. It's our time innit. |
it's true, we've definitely done our time. we deserve to be let out for good behaviour.
| And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show |

League One there's no cap on how much money the owners can add to the budget. Rules in the Championship set a hard cap of a £13m a season.
