So would Clarke get in a born-in-Ipswich all-time XI? (Eligibility: Ruel Fox yes, Otley-born Roger Osborne no.)

To answer my own question, I think Clarke gets in this team. (I must admit, I don't know which position Thrower played.)

Bailey

Clarke Hall Bramble Harper
Dozzell (J) Talbot Dyer
Storey-Moore Fox

That's ten, - I think you take your pick from Bonne, Dozzell (A) , Miller, Donowa to fill the last space.

(Storey-Moore is what I've learned today, and brings some serious class up front.)

With his 33 England caps, even in spite of his injuries Kieron's a pretty big slam dunk for best ever Ipswichian footballer, isn't he?

It's weird because although I thought he was brilliant at the time (I was 13), I don't think I clocked that I was watching one of the best ever to play for the club.

If it wasn’t for injury then he would have easily reached 100 caps for England. A much better midfielder than both Lampard and Gerrard.

anyone heard of Scott Darton?

I used to live opposite his family until 1980, knew his brother Lee was a bit of a scally, mid-90s was working near Blackpool and used to attend mid-week games (Allardyce was manager).

Recognised the name, and noticed the familiar appearance.

He wasn't very good IIRC however he played 44 games at a decent level...

Nick Pope was born in Soham, Cambridgeshire

Grundisburgh born Jon Sammels would walk into that team.
