Gonna be unbearable on here. 21:54 - Feb 14 with 3667 viewsSwailsey

Point scoring, gloating, calling for the manager’s head..Jesus Christ.

It’s his first full season as a manager: the owners had a 5 year plan. Give him time.

I swear some people revel in us not winning.
NONE OF US ARE ENJOYING THIS.

5 years is vaguely sensible for a big VC to see some payback. All bets are off in football though. It's essentially the least traditional and guaranteed investment vehicle.

What about day traders? Or even, more traditional blue chip equities. Liberty's 5% stake in Vodafone is a short term undervaluation punt. Want me to carry on?

Football is not a market that day traders even consider going near, and you know this. To even drop this in to the conversation is disigenuous at best. Try harder.

I'm still very calm.

Disappointed how things have gone but fully behind Mckenna. Quite a few of these players need a kick up the back side though, they've started coasting.

Mckenna needs to find the 11 he trusts most and play them week in week out until the end of the season and only players coming in who show form in training or from the bench. If they sulk because they hink they are a 1st teamer, tough. prove it.

We will make the play offs and then thats a lottery. But even if we' don't, let's remember this. Next season will only be Mckenna 2nd full season as a manger. He deserves at least that and i will be backing him next season whatever league we are in.

I'm off though because TWTD is utterly toxic at the end of every game currently.

You said this:

'And do you think that anyone, or any organisation involved in finance expects to see a return on their investments in 18 months? Or even five years?'

I made two very obvious rebuttals, which have made you look like someone who needs to think a bit more before articulating nonsense.

You made one rebuttal.

So you think a 5% punt on a global established company and brand equates to an investment in a 3rd tier English football club on the way down? Educate me, please.

I count Liberty and day traders collectively to count as 'anyone or any organisation'.

You're welcome.

You're taking my statement completely literally and using it to twist my original sentiment.

It's just back at you.

Ok, let's move on. If you invested a substantial amount of money into a sports organisation, using money that people didn't expect to see back for an average of 20 - 30 years, what would your deadline be for starting to see a return?

It's a text based forum. It's pretty hard to not take things literally. A pension fund will be a diversified mix of assets with the main differing factor being risk.

I'd imagine this will be towards the biggest risk asset in the portfolio. I assume some spreadsheet somewhere before closing had this as at least 10x in 5-10 years. Perhaps far more if even getting to the Prem was entertained or modelled.

I don't think this would be modelled over 20-30 years because, to me that would be more appropriate for a more investment intense passive income play. Like say commercial real estate etc. Trying to predict profit after tax after beyond next year in football is pretty pointless as it principally depends on what league you are in.

The amount of village idiots in Suffolk who have no experience of how the outside world operates is a constant source of exasperation for me.

Yes, but flouncing on a message board won’t change that. Football nowadays is so fickle. He was the future a few weeks ago. How many of the same are calling to get rid of him.

Maybe I just have a different thing that I want to get out of football. But letting it get to me and being so upset/quick to make this place a depress-fest just isn’t for me.

Take the rough with the smooth. Life’s too short.

Are people flouncing?

I feel like you are acting like we are witnessing this:

I think many of the people who were being over the top in their criticism have reigned it in. But the concerns are real and people should expect others to voice them on a forum.

Looking back, the warning signs were there at the end of the good run - the performance at Morecambe was limp, then the classic 500 chances but no goals against Lincoln, then a victory over Derby, where we had to rely on an error to break the deadlock before a shaky defensive showing at Vale Park.
