A lot of miserable, hungover Geordies... on 14:17 - Feb 27 by Gogs
I was at the game where Santa Claus Thomsen equalised late on too, which goes a long way towards explaining why I have disliked Newcastle ever since. As I recall it looked like we were being given a cordon of police horses away from the baying natives, but the line of horses stopped at about 4 and we were in the middle of them and just had to leg it as quickly as possible, ducking flying fists and boots as best we could until we got to the Newcastle Uni student union bar. Loveable geordies, my à rse.
Because of building works, where we were positioned had Newcastle fans in amongst us. A guy on our coach was sat next to a Geordie who went mental when they scored in the 86th minute, gave this Ipswich fan a load of abuse and singing how great Andy Cole was and what a bunch of c***s Ipswich are etc and how they were "gonna stuff us now".
Of course, we got that late equaliser. This Town fan jumps up to celebrate (in the largely away end!) turns to this Geordie and the loveable Newcastle rogue flattened the Town fan.
Yep, very sore losers indeed. Can dish it out with the best, but can't take it (or anything close) back.

My experience of Newcastle fans I think is the most extreme of any other clubs fans I've ever met.
From the psychos who attacked 2 friends and myself at Carrot Road in 85, although there supporting Newcastle 'cos we weren't wearing colours (they all had pin badges).
To the guys that took us to a Labour club before the game in 94/95 when they had 20+ attempts on goal and we equalised in 94th (?) Minute thru Claus Thomsen. These folks also made sure we got to our car safely, when things got nasty, afterwards.
Huge fans base, 60 odd years since last trophy v owned by Saudisr
Oh and they were playing Manure... For me wish Newcastle had won.
Actually not, they won the Inter City Fairs cup (what we won) in 1969
"A Newcastle fan who punched a police horse after his team lost has been jailed for a year, and was also banned from attending any football matches in the UK for six years.
Barry Rogerson, 45, was charged after trouble flared when the Magpies lost 3-0 at home to Sunderland in April ."
