Maybe only option is to find safe place to pull over when kicking off. Or just turn your heart to stone.
I’ve cycled (with care) through many a red light and not had 3 points or a fine yet - although that would certainly change my behaviour! Why? It’s safer to be away from the cars, it’s quicker, it saves energy, etc. but I am worried it winds up some motorists or pedestrians who think I’m taking the p*ss. |  | | |

I should have simply gone down a quiet road and waited until my 3 year old had settled down. At the risk of downplaying it all, this will be a life lesson. And I do understand why some cyclists go through red lights. | | | |

Can't change whether you were caught now. It has had the effect it would have on 99% of people. Many of us have been there or similar.
As Ryorry and GB say, be thankful it wasn't worse (you clearly are), learn from it and try to forget about it. You cannot change whether a fine comes through or not. It probably won't. |  |

I've been guilty of speeding in the past (twice - 35 in a 30 & 40 in a 30 when switching from Leeds outer ring road to inner ring road without noticing).
Did the speed awareness course which had its desired effect, but what had just as great an effect on me was reading a blog called 'Accidental Impact' by Maryann Gray, on how inadvertantly causing a fatality whilst driving changed her life forever, & would probably do the same to anyone else should it happen. She started a support network for this which I think isn't just in UK & USA but other countries too. If anyone wants to google, it's well worth a read. | |

I don’t think it’s punishable by points, potentially a fine if there’s a Panutche but that’s probably not likely given they aren’t all that common.

I’m frequently guilty of speeding, especially on leaving road works and have already passed the last camera, but only one speeding ticket. Took the points rather than doing driver awareness session. | |
