Hirst on 21:17 - Apr 1 with 2048 views | Illinoisblue | Watched the goal about 137 times now: the incredible speed of Burns is amazing. Look at his starting position. Like an Olympic sprinter. Wasn’t sure on Hirst but there’s something about him with his movement and eye for goal that gives us that extra edge.

As I posted on an earlier thread , the critical thing was Cashin being on a yellow...either had to take Burns on for pace or bring him down and get sent off.... he made the wrong choice!
Hirst on 22:41 - Apr 1 with 1814 views | J2BLUE | I'm sure he's coming permanently in the summer. No inside info but he was a long term target, you can see why now he's settled in and you can tell he has fully bought in. His reaction to the first goal was great. I think (again, no info) it's already done IF we go up and probably still will be if we don't as this club is only going one way over the next few years. It would just make sense.

I think Hirst and JJ are nailed on in the summer.

Always thought it was a funny move us going for him on loan if there was nothing in place for a perm deal, so hopefully you're right!

I hope so. I wasn't convinced after his first 2 or 3 games, but he now looks the real deal - a very very good proper centre forward - strong, tall, quick, works really hard and has a great shot on him. Second half today a ball was pumped up and over his head - it was overhit but he really ran and lifted his leg right up at full stretch to bring the ball down - great effort and skill. Mckenna and the recruitment team are meticulous in their targets.

A very good point. Overall I thought derby were pretty average. Didn’t really create much. Not a lot of quality.

It nicely illustrates for me a very welcome and much needed improvement in an area that I’ve been moaning for years we’ve been lacking in - ie speed of thought, not just movement (though the latter is of course very welcome too!).

I like Ladapo but Hirst is the sort of subtle 'upgrade on numbers' player that you you buy in FIFA/FM only in real life.

It has made me re-asses a previous statement that I love Burns and he is quick but didn't feel he was electric fast. Like never really felt he had explosive speed and was that away from being a top championship+ player. That was the first time I remember him blowing someone away with pace. Cashing is class as well but he must not have tremendous pace.what a run it was! Him and Clarke have such potential as a right pair.

Ladapo is your architypal League One ( little fitness, loads of physical attributes) whereas Hirst has that finesse, has that quicker brain and is a better all rounder . Of course this is my humble view. But Hirst will deal with Championship, Freddie , I think would struggle in a lot of games. It’s notable that he’s not getting the game time now is he. This must wrangle with him ( it would if it were me), but like a true pro he’s doing his bit for the team.

Absolutely. It looked to me that it was impossible to score given he had to head away from goal and then turn. But he was helped by the fact that the rest of the Derby team didn't rush back to help their two defenders out.
