Kudos to El Miz… he’s coming home on 09:20 - Apr 24 by chicoazul | I don’t like to tempt fate but frankly now who cares. Out; KVY Harper El Miz Piggott Penney Ahadme Ndaba Aluko Evans Edwards Keogh TJJ Hirst And I’d be surprised although happy if we offer Luongo something. [Post edited 24 Apr 2023 10:24]

You can see why people might be slightly mislead when you say "10 out, 8 in" and "half our team". I think most reasonable people seeing that would imagine a serious turnover of players currently active in the squad and that we actually own. But you've named - 6 players currently already out on loan, 2 players already in semi-retirement, 1 player we've already replaced, 2 loanees who we are likelier than not to make permanent. Only really 2 players in there that would constitute significant decisions (and Edwards is going nowhere imo)

Kudos to El Miz… he’s coming home on 10:45 - Apr 24 by itfcjoe | Just to add my midfield thoughts to this generally to the thread - I'd do something like this assuming we are promoted: Morsy - Keep Luongo - Most probably keep Ball - keep Evans - Move on Camara - potentially move on El Mizouni - keep at Ipswich as back up Humphreys - loan spell at a top L1 side Harper - move on Sign a new CM for serious money to improve us as a nailed on starter Leave us with Morsy, new starter, Ball, El Mizouni and probably Luongo as the 5 to cover 3 positions |
Does that mean we get Matt Crooks? Hope so…

Kudos to El Miz… he’s coming home on 13:01 - Apr 24 by tractordownsouth | Walton's spoken about the importance of getting regular football in a settled environment after spending so long as a back up at Brighton and out on loan so I don't think that sort of move would appeal. He's reportedly our highest earner anyway, so once you add in a probable promotion bonus, being the back up somewhere like Burnley might not even give him a pay increase. On Woolfenden, I doubt anybody will spend £9m on a 24-year-old defender who's never played 90 minutes above League One. If we go up and he adapts well, he's got the attributes to be of interest to Premier League teams but I think they'll want at least a season's worth of evidence that he's capable of playing in the Championship before chucking that kind of money at us. Edwards is a more realistic departure. Fingers crossed he sticks around though because the chaos he injects into games off the bench is brilliant and he seems like a good character to have around the squad. I wouldn't be surprised to see one of Edmundson or Burgess leave if we go up. I think they'd both be capable deputies in the Championship but not sure they'd be starters and having two back ups for that position might be excessive. Burgess has been the better player this season but Edmundson's ceiling is higher so which would be sold isn't clear. |
I really can't see Burgess leaving having been part of a defence that has conceded two goals in about 12 games. He's been brilliant and it's no coincidence that his form has improved since the arrival of Keogh.
