Genuine question: Is there anyone out there who would rather have… 23:42 - Apr 28 with 4188 viewsMatt_Netherlands

Another year of potential promotion based excitement in league one, rather than a lower-mid table championship finish?

I was thinking about championship teams like Preston, QPR and Hull earlier and thinking they rarely have anything to celebrate, much like we did for the doldrum years.

I’m as excited about anyone at the possibility of being back in the championship. If that happens though and we do end up having a year or even a few years of mid table mediocrity, I hope we all still see that as significant progress in where we’ve been, and the feel good factor we all have right now, stays with us!

For the tape: I’d take 20th in the championship next season over 1st in league one.

When you look at this year's Championship, teams all the way down to 12th have been in with a decent play off shout, untill very recently.
I think we'd be comfortably mid table. Without any improvement. But with the "no stone unturned" attitude in the Summer window and the January window. Im fully expecting us to at least challenge for a play off spot... That might sound unrealistic to the non believers. But the quality of the opposition weve played and basically blitzed, over the last couple of months, is testament to how good a team we are. And how good our entire set up is. We should absolutely hold no fear, should we go up.
It's highly unlikely we'd be tracking 100pts and 100 goals in the Champs. But we won't need to, in order to compete and be in with a shout until the very end of the season. In that respect, imo, it would be a very exciting season in the Championship. And not stale , mid/lower table nothingness...(See Sumderland)
Totally get the OP. Seasons past have left scars..But I personally pressed the reset button when GC came in. It's a new era, a rebirth. Don't let the past drag you down..Look forward with optimism... It's not a false dawn, this time. Promises are being kept by those that are pulling the strings.
At some point, well reach a level , where progress might slow down.
Imo, mid/lower table mediocrity in The Championship, won't be that level under the current regime.

Let's get the job done today. Soak it up if it happens. It's a rare thing seeing a Town side winning promotion.

No No No
These owners want Premier league football and will pay to get it where the money is.
We all want big crowds better grounds to visit other clubs bringing better away support to Portman Road so let's get this done

Would be a very bizarre take indeed if they did.

We are obviously not Preston, QPR and Hull, & I think our style of play as developed by KM & enabled by Gamechanger, would be much better suited to the Championship anyway - you've only got to look at our cup game v. Burnley for evidence of that.

Whether as a team or an individual your aim must be as high as you can achieve. If those in Green and Yellow up the road can get to the Prem then with a couple more class players why not us ? Gamechanger in order to achieve their ultimate rewards from the club would I suggest need to be in the Prem. One thing I don't want is for us to be a yo-yo club. I don't know whether we can achieve two seasons of promotion. Firstly we must achieve this one of course. If we get promoted then it could be a case of consolidation in the Championship, but who knows ?

Championship teams seem to all have money issues. No concerns at all

I probably would, if that was the only option. I’d rather have the optimism of this season than the despair of Mick’s last one. About 15k extra people there this afternoon who weren’t turning up then probably agree as well.

Luckily we don’t have to settle for lower-mid table in any league, so it’s a moot question. IF we go up I’ll be looking forward to where Gamechanger and Kieran can take us. It feels like special times are coming.

No. This league is terrible. Endless sh1thousing, terrible refs, overall poor standard.

That was my thinking when we fell out of the Premiership and enjoyed the more honest Championship. I’d rather be thrashing Man City in honesty.

Naa, I’ve had enough of this f’kng league now, was only supposed to be a one season stay!!

Genuinely think with the momentum we could challenge for the play-offs in the Championship next season anyway, but would be happy with a top 10 finish.

And we definitely won’t be in it for 17 seasons again, and it won’t be by coming down again…!

I think it will be stage 2 of gamechangers plan - Man City type budget and champions

That’s what I’m expecting anyway

Why in earth do you think we'd be ' lower-mid table championship'!

Just look at sunderland last season. somewhat staggered to promotion and they are on the verge of the championship play offs this year.

Ipswich will be pushing towards the play offs next season I have no doubt about that. They might make it might not but I would be extremely surprised if we were to finish lower mid table. Bottom half teams in the championship are a very poor standard this season.
