Think it's often strange how often footballers get singled out from other rich people.
Personally don't think anyone should be rich, but if we're going to have this world based around some people being obscenely wealthy and others having virtually nothing, footballers are no less deserving that any other amongst the former. |  |

I understand that Messi has told Barca he will play for free but La Liga won't allow that so he then offered to play for whatever Barca can afford and fits within La Liga rules but so far they have not offered him a contract.

Exactly J2Blue I'm not on about championship players or lower who may wish to make a killing before retirement. I'm on about players been paid north of a hundred grand a week for a substantial amount of years Not like the boys of 78 or 82 who ended up having to work after their football career came to a end.
