Something bad going down in Nottingham on 17:19 - Jun 13 with 2768 views | Mercian | At first whay I say will seem perverse but bare with me. I used to live in the area(s) of Notts (2 of the 4) where this attack happened and was shocked by it. I then though that despite all we live in a good country. Today's events are one of the non political major news stories of they year. If this had happened in New Orleans instead of Nottingham people would not have bat an eyelid outside of the area it happend. It would almost certainly not have made The National News. The City of Baltimore which is similar is size to Nottingham has as many murders per year then the entire United Kingdom. Thankfully murders of all kinds are rare in Britian and I am happy about that. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Why are you trying to score cheap political points from this tragic incident?

I'm not. It's just in my experience the right are gagging to say "ah, told you so!" and hope when something like this happens its "one of them ethnics".
Something bad going down in Nottingham on 18:57 - Jun 13 with 2578 views | wkj | Really baffles you what compels people to do stuff like this. Premeditated with the intent to harm for the sake of harming is what the report suggests, utterly chilling when you think that a normal day out in town centre can become this if one person in the crowd or traffic is unhinged. Sadly, he’s right. There are people on social media who are using this to spread anti-immigrant hatred even when no details were known. I agree with your previous posts on this subject that people’s first thoughts should be with the victims and their loved ones, but I don’t believe that post was in bad faith or trying to score political points. More a comment on the cesspit of certain parts of our society.

Friday 11 days ago was one of the most harrowing experiences for me. I live in that part of Manchester where a woman was stabbed to death. In the daylight ! After 12 o'clock ! According to various reports it was a random attack on random person. I live about 100 yards away from that place. Still plenty of flowers on the ground. Don't know why you think that the murders like this are a rare thing in UK. If anything it seems it's growing.

Fair enough. Each to their own I suppose. My first thought was for the victims. Not about how one side of a political spectrum would try to spin this awful incident.

Because they are. 600 murders a year in a country that has a population that is fast approaching 70 million is a low rate. The USA has 5 times the population of The UK and they have 35/45 thousand cases a year . The internet is everywhere and the news is on 24 hours a day. It seems to be getting worse because we always hear about them.

And do the far right care about the victims? Do they hell as like! Already seen some of their "political voices" blaming immigration and asking why we have "so many foreign people in Britain". Is that "caring about the victims?

Many Asians came to The UK from Uganda when Idi Amin expelled them. I am not sure if this directly applies to Ms Braverman and Dame Priti but that pair are the cheerleaders of the "Political voices" Uganda or nor I bet the daugthers of Immigrants are glad they were not in charge at the time.
