The 'Complete' British summer of sport 11:44 - Jul 14 with 4455 viewshatch

I've found myself going to a lot of sporting events recently and it has got me thinking about what I would need to attend to say 'British sporting summer? Completed it mate' or whatever the kids say these days.

My summer has or will include:

Royal Ascot
Henley Regatta
Lords Ashes
British Grand Prix
Wimbledon
t20 Finals Day
The Open Golf
Old Trafford Ashes
Oval Ashes

What is missing from the classics? Crucible is not summer (and is boring as hell), Women's Ashes perhaps? Athletics? British Speedway Grand Prix?

I'm conscious this comes across as a sporting brag but it's only having gone to a few of these recently that it got me and some of my friends debating in the pub last night what would be the 'grand slam' of british sporting major events.

I dread to think how much you're going to spend on all that! haha

The only thing that would interest me is Wimbledon. The rest is pretty dull

Lads this is the most Tory thing I have seen on here in ages.

Of course, that's because we're all Tories....

You are the obsolete SRN4 to my Fairey Rotodyne....

Silverstone was a good deal last week. I was at a wedding next door so chanced my luck on the gates and got a £350 seated ticket on Copse for £100 from a nice couple of men near the entrance....

TT may be a push but I can certainly try squeeze in Cowes and the Tour of Britain to complete the set.

Cowes is hardly much of a spectator sport but it's OK if you stand at the Royal Yacht Squadron the starts of the big boat races are interesting.

Has me wondering if its possible to form a list of the 5 most tory things? I'm off to paint the walls of my local nursery in matt black to teach those little feckers a lesson

You couldnt do a lot worse than Wimbledon the Boat Race Royal Ascot Henley and the F1 tbh.

All these left wing firebrands going on about how much they love picnicking at Henley and Glastonbury and the Tour de France.

I'd like to see those so-called 'sportsman' sink a dozen pints then race their bikes like darts players do.

I didn't know that darts players race their bikes. They don't show that on tv.
