Priority - tickets 12:26 - Jul 24 with 4960 views | Jamiebed | Sorry if going over old ground, but could someone quickly explain the priority system. How are some on 30+? And only through buying membership am I on 5, despite having been to 90% away games over last 20 years. Am i missing a trick? How do 25+, 20+, etc coming about?

Priority - tickets on 13:27 - Jul 24 with 3613 views | Meadowlark | On the face of it, that seems unfair, but I find it difficult to believe that you could have kept your 90% away attendance stats last season (or even the season before) without being in one of the membership schemes. Tickets were selling out so fast that many with Gold failed to get them.

I am disabled/wheelchair-user so arrangements slightly different.

Priority - tickets on 15:33 - Jul 24 with 3401 views | lizzibee | As others have said. The points is based on attendance at away games last season. One point per game then five points if you get a card this season. Games last season only count if you had a membership card though so if you bought general sale then you don't obtain the points nor so for anything prior to last season.

Presumably whatever procedure you followed last season, for wheelchair spaces, will stil apply. Just ring the club and ask.

Priority - tickets on 15:48 - Jul 24 with 3325 views | hammo56 | The membership priority scheme was used for the wheelchair/disabled section last season. My daughter is a wheelchair user and s/t holder and had a gold card. Therefore, her points for attending away games last season were added. The majority of wheelchair users didn’t need to purchase a membership for most away games as there was usually enough tickets available to purchase without being a member. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

But, it is not a p-take, is it, really? The club have had membership schemes for years, which gave fans who signed up priority access to away tickets. You chose not to be a member, which is perfectly fine, and you got your tickets when they went to general sale. That remains the case this season too. You can choose not to be a member again and wait for general sale or get a membership and move ahead of those who choose to wait for general sale. If you chose not to be a member last season then why should you have the same benefits (accruing points) as those who paid for their membership? [Post edited 24 Jul 2023 16:46]

I had a gold card last year and have got a membership for this year - and whilst sad, people like yourself being on zero points is exactly what makes it still good value for people like me! If they'd given season ticket holders (without memberships) from LY all of those points it would vastly reduce the value of this years membership. I don't think it's fair you're being shafted though, the club had to start somewhere and this seems a fair-ish way of doing so.

Cambridge away poor ticketing by pennblue 9 Jan 2023 10:33It is tricky, I have missed out now on Pompey, Oxford and now Cambridge, it is really starting to get on my wick.
I wonder if there will become a time when they move to 'dynamic' pricing. Where the people that pay the most get the tickets.
The technology is certainly here for it. Would suggest you'd be quite happy to shaft some of the clubs most loyal supporters if you could pay to do so.

Well that is a different angle on how ticket allocation can be done. I raised that subject for two reasons, one is i work on platforms that have dynamic pricing capability and two because i have an office next to some Arsenal debenture ticket holders who sell their seats to rich arabs visiting london each week. But such a scheme of course would not be fair, just the same as having a two tier nhs system would be unfair

It's not a p**s take at all. Loyal fans are being rewarded, namely though who paid the extra and bought the membership, which you could have got for a mere £20. I'm impressed you managed to get tickets to 65% of games as many didn't reach general sale given gold member interest. The same applies this season with people able to buy on general sale if you decide not to buy membership this year (if you have you'll have five points not zero). Whatever way the club does it people will be upset, but as someone who had a gold card and went to all bar three games (including pizza and FACup) I think this is fair and rewards those like me who made the investment last season.

How is selling tickets based on how much money someone has fair??? Some people spend all their spare money on following Ipswich. It would be wrong to get in a bidding war on seats - you alienate a massive fan base of loyal fans, youngsters, families etc

I think it's unfair for this reason too, even though I had a gold membership last season. They will have a record of your purchases, so my solution would have been to count them but not give you the additional five points for being a member last season. As it is, my friends and I, who sit together, have 26, 24, 22, 18 and 14 points. So for the QPR game (assuming the same points system for Sunderland and the need to purchase in two goes), in order those on 18 and 14 points to sit together, we will have to wait for ticket priority to be available for those on 5 points. The only thing to say is that a couple of us are normally pretty adept at being quick off the mark at 10am, so likely to be more savvy than newbies. [Post edited 24 Jul 2023 17:17]

Well I think that is my point, £20 is a drop in the ocean compared to the true cost of attending these away games, and therefore, not all Loyal fans are being rewarded. Loyalty is of course subjective as to what it really means. But anyway, I feel shafted.

Priority - tickets on 17:26 - Jul 24 with 2897 views | SamWhiteUK | Everyone is going to have their reasons why they think the system missed the mark. For me, it's the Sunderland game - there's no bracket for 10+, which is annoying for me as I have no priority with my 12 points over those who went to no away games last year and just bought a membership this year. However, I just have to suck it up and deal with it, and hope that they reach my priority level. Hopefully I can build up a few more points with obscure games that don't have as much demand, as I have plenty of annual leave to be able to make long weekends possible.

Or get your 14 person to buy and sell a Sunderland ticket and then they'll have 15 and be in your group.

You do appear to be blending loyalty and priority together. Undoubtedly you're a loyal and very active fan, but you weren't able to attend the most in-demand games last season because you didn't pay for priority. Demand may increase this season but so will away allocations, so you should be in a similar place to before? The priority system has held the place of those who valued priority in League One and then separated them according to how active they were, which seems reasonable. It feels like a daunting number of days to wait but the number ahead of you won't have dramatically increased, unless the new membership sells well and you don't buy one, or the system is abused by non-attendees wanting to increase their points total.

That's an idea. Indeed, I think there may well be a lot of that going on this season with points from last season not counting next season. But I don't really like the idea of selling tickets on. [Post edited 24 Jul 2023 18:59]
