Renaming Portman Road 11:14 - Jul 27 with 6531 views | Mookamoo | How do people feel about selling the naming rights to Portman Road? Dearest Edward has been a great sponsor, but I can see us signing up for a new bigger, longer term deal next year. I'm going for the Mediterranean Shipping Company Arena. Cobbold stand is rebuilt over the top of Portman Road in 2027 and what is left is eventually renamed Mick Mills Way in 2049 to celebrate his 100th birthday.

I still think of the Pioneer as The West Stand, coz I'm old

Me too. East is east and West is west. I call it the East stand nowadays although I did used to stand in the Chicken Run with my dad, back in the day, and we both called it the Chicken Run.

Renaming Portman Road on 21:33 - Jul 27 with 684 views | PioneerBlue | Having read earlier comments Portman Road can’t be renamed, it’s the name of the road. The stadium can be called whatever they like for sponsorship and marketing purposes. I will still be going to Portman Road no matter what the stadium is known as. If it’s an appropriate sponsor, there is nothing wrong with ‘The INSERT NAME Stadium on Portman Road’. I have no issue with stand sponsorship but cant shake The North Stand, Churchman’s, Portman Stand and The Pioneer. I can’t get too fussed by it all!

Surely "Portman Road" is simply..... on 20:23 - Jul 27 by glasso | Yeah it's like Upton Park. Don't think Ive ever heard anyone call it the Boleyn Ground but it's near Upton Park station so that's good enough |
Used to work with a Spam fan and he was always singing "Rollin Down the Boyleyn".

Renaming Portman Road on 06:37 - Jul 28 with 605 views | textbackup | Don’t care in the slightest. Will it stop anyone going? I still call all 4 stands what i knew them as when I started going. When MA arrived he gave a speech about his wife saying ‘never change that stand because they’ll never forgive you’ history heritage etc… what I’ve come to learn is MA is full of sht for the cameras, does a great job, but morals, na… not there. But each to their own [Post edited 28 Jul 2023 6:41]

Whatever MA is or isn’t that comment was about the Ipswich Town FC lettering on the Cobbold/East Stand roof, not the stand itself.
