Still plenty of time to go but it doesn’t look like things have gone completely to plan with our recruitment. Ashton might wish he had kept quiet now rather than raising expectations as he has.

I think the pricey Simms and Trusty moves show that we’re approaching a stage in the club’s development where buying players who improve what we already have, and are already top Championship standard with clear EPL potential (NB or LD type deals), is going to cost us a lot more than the 1-1.5m we’ve been paying. Suspect GC20 will resist the £3-5m deals for a while longer then review in Jan if we’re there or thereabouts - which could mean we don’t get any “instant success” players in this summer. That said if we’ve learned one thing about MA, he’ll keep his cards close to his chest and surprise us | | | |

I think we are playing in the 1m-1.5m market at the moment, mostly due to FFP constraints.
We have to play it smart, so i'm rather surprised we've not looked abroad yet where better deals can be found for the money we are prepared to pay. | | | |
