The inflated market really is making a mockery of the parachute payments. I guess you have Leeds and, to an extent, Norwich this season, who have not really made good money from sales so have more holes to fill, but the wages lost are probably considerable.

My prediction: rules around reducing or scrapping parachute payments will come into effect just as we get promoted.

Wouldn't effect us, we'll be looking at European football rather than relegation.

Saints selling Lavia to Chelsea for £53 mill before add ons on 09:00 - Aug 16 with 1559 views | King_of_Portman_Rd | Saw a stat somewhere (can’t be bothered to go hunting for it) but thought it was quite interesting involving player sales for the 3 relegated clubs. Leicester has made £79m from 3 sales Saints £90m+ from 4 sales Leeds £3m from 8 sales Either Leeds are keeping their best players or their best players were actually push poor and not worth the money they spent on them. Leicester & Saints though have brought in some serious coin *figures may not be fully correct | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Norwich have Sara for next year and if he keeps going the way he is, that'll be 25-30m you'd suspect

Leeds have taken a very strange approach. Harrison, Aaronson, Kristensen, Koch and Wober have all gone out on loan, so they're losing a lot of key players without getting transfer fees in.

I think their hands have been tied somewhat by relegation release clauses from what I've read. Rodrigo's was £3m which was ridiculous given how much they paid for him.

They expect to ho straight back up don't they. As for Chelsea £111 mil on Caceido another 60 plus on Lavia, it's non stop. Just seem to buying players to stop anyone else having them

Indeed, Liverpool wanted both so Klopp is probably tearing up his office.

Yeah, a lot of the players have clauses in their contract allowing them to leave on loan if they were relegated. They also have some players on big wages, which may prevent some of their better players leaving. They should get a few quid for Tyler Adams though. That being said, colleague was only saying this morning how thin their squad is currently - think he said they have 11 available players (taking into account injuries and three players on strike) with any first team expereince.
