I find it completely depressing reading back through a couple of threads on here about the Rubiales case. You'd imagine people wouldn't have such a dismissive, hostile, frivolous reaction if their daughter, wife, partner etc were victims of sexual aggression. Statistically there's a good chance they will have or will be at some time in their lives. |
I’m probs one of those you’ve been disappointed in! With the process of time and what has come out since Im happy to admit that I was wrong about this. The bloke has shown himself to be a complete fool by the way he has reacted. |  |

I've heard many variations of this type of speech leading up to the recent general election. He knows exactly who is audience is and they'll be lapping it up. I'm sure he will be sacked but it'll be long and drawn out.
I fully expect to see him in the list of Vox candidates at the next election. Harder to say what will happen to the national team coaches but their roles are pretty much untenable now. |  | | |

Don't think she'd given a stance, got the impression the incident was getting played down by supporters of Rubiales which got twisted into her saying she wasn't bothered.
Completely baffled by people suggesting there's nothing gross or inappropriate about the incident to be honest. |
There are loads of people who think Mason Greenwood did nothing wrong, same as Ched Evans etc. So they're not gonna see this as wrong are they?

It's an international incident/scandal now - perhaps it's a good thing that the "toxic culture" BarcaBlue referred to has been fully outed & exposed to the world, instead of being left to fester under the Spanish carpet -

Misogyny or general lack of respect for women is almost entwined with football culture unfortunately, obviously has got better over time but you look at something like the amount of support from top men players given to Benjamin Mendy after his court case to the near silence from them on this and it tells you there's clearly much more work to do.
Hard to make a call on it in terms of wider society, but there does seem to be a slight increase in selfishness, 'look after number one' stuff about. Anecdotal but I know there are people very concerned how much of an influence the likes of Andrew Tate and his ilk have over teenagers considering their brand of masculinity is pretty much the definition of toxic. |  |
