Our support amazes me sometimes 11:39 - Aug 31 with 5176 views | Dubtractor | Imagine seeing how we have performed and recruited for the last year, and having the start to this season that we've had, and still managing to find a negative angle on things. Remarkable effort.

Our support amazes me sometimes on 14:53 - Aug 31 by Naylorsrightboot | Trouble is after 6 months are up we could be well off the top 6 then it’s been a wasted season just getting other teams youngsters game time and experience. Didn’t think we had time for that. The word was we were pushing on. Doesn’t look like it with a team full of kids who are on loan. |

Steady. Fwiw, my op wasn't aimed at you Frimmers. You worry and overanalyse too much, but overall much more balance since the summer.

I'd also say it's been a relatively disappointing window on 15:29 - Aug 31 with 467 views | Dyland |
Our support amazes me sometimes on 12:21 - Aug 31 by FrimleyBlue | I've already said on the Scarlett post that he'll be better with town players than Pompys. I was just adding why I think there are some who aren't overly happy with the window. |
Expectations though, and frankly, what the fack to I know eh? Let's see how we're set come January innit.

Not aimed at you Frimmers per se, but I hope the relentlessly negative posters on here don't manage anyone in the real world. I dread to think what working for some of you would be like. |
This isn't my personal view on it personally, was just explaining why I think some supporters have been vocal themselves.

Yes. Everyone on here definitely 'goes'

Our support amazes me sometimes on 14:39 - Aug 31 by Yppswyche | We’ve likely hit our FFP ceiling for the price of players that would improve the squad, so the only way to get the requisite quality in currently is via loans, as our saleable assets won’t reach full potential valuation until they’ve had a decent season in the championship. Come next summer and we sell Leif & Broadhead for instance for a combined £20M+ say and we then have the wiggle room, which other championship clubs have this summer thru this scenario, to invest more broadly across the squad in terms of permanent first team additions to move us up to the next level. The owners have the money but not the possibility to use it. As others have said the prem loan market in the championship is a vital cog in all the leagues clubs ability to add quality they wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford. This is nothing new, to us or any other club.. have folks lost their heads? By the same logic Aluko signing on for another year is a good deal, as to buy in someone of his general quality & experience who knows the system and would be happy to play a bit part role would cost cash we don’t have room to use for that role in the team. Our support amazes me sometimes on 12:35 - Aug 31 by Mullet | I'm a bit taken aback by the Scarlett thread, it's pretty extreme even for the usuals. Not sure who or what they were expecting and seems to be healthy doses of memory-loss and context missing. The fact we've got clubs like this willing to send us their players is also a key message. When was the last time we got players with this sort of profile? |
Absolutely agree. Dane Scarlett is not even 19 and a half! Looking back at his past history (some of which was when he was a child) and criticising his scoring record is madness, and very unfair. Kieran has proven that he is (a) a really good judge of a player to sign, and (b) a really really good coach. That is pretty much gospel even amongst the more lunatic fringe. The fact that one player didn't score a lot of goals when he was 18 years old at a mid table league one side, played sometimes out of position, is really of tangential relevance. If he'd banged in 20 goals he'd be back at Spurs in their squad, or sold for £10-20m if Spurs didn't fancy him. Spurs obviously rate him, Kieran also does, and frankly it's a bit of a coup. He'll be well coached, protected, used the right amount, played in sensible positions, and I think we'll see the fruits of that. At the very very least, Kieran plainly thinks he's an upgrade on TJJ, so he improves the squad. In an ideal world we'd have no loanees, but if he improves the squad then no problem. An exciting signing. I think, hope, most people see that and agree.
