Edmundson, right I'm calling it now! 00:35 - Sep 2 with 5309 views | Nutkins_Return | Absolutely sick to death of him having been singled out at the minute of being well off it and not up to it etc. It's massively over the top. He was fouled the other night which cost a goal and nothing more. He played fine all night. He's still well ahead of Baggott (who has massive potential) and there seems to be this weird desire by a section of the fanbase to singal him out for some absolute rubbish at the moment. He's a quality CB who has had some injury issues. To be honest I think he had a decent pre-season and is a quality player at this level. Some of the stuff being written is nonsense.

Edmundson, right I'm calling it now! on 10:21 - Sep 2 by Dubtractor | I really struggle with how fickle/short term thinking a lot of our support is these days. Everything has to be immediate, no one has the patience to let things play out anymore. We're 4 games into the season - no one will be firing on all cylinders yet, mistakes are more likely to be made, partnerships not quite gelled etc. Its like no one learned after getting all worked up when we had our wobble last winter, then it all panned out OK after all. |
Rubbish. Nobody’s fickle around here. Couldn’t disagree more

Edmundson, right I'm calling it now! on 10:30 - Sep 2 by Naylorsrightboot | Different league this. You need to be at it from the first minute. We have had a good few weeks, but we got lucky against Sunderland and QPR. Really only Stoke where we looked assured. The defense looks very shaky at times. As the season gets going we are going to get punished. Edmundson really doesn't cut it, it's harsh but think it's true. Hope lm wrong, but he is way to slow. |
If only we’d been at it from the first minute of our first game (actually, I suppose it did take us about 20 minutes to settle, so there’s some room for improvement).

Sunderland was such a weird game. Looked men v boys in their favour for 20 minutes, then we settled and controlled the match until the red card, when we were 2-0 up, but we seemed to fade drastically after it. Was very odd. Stoke was superb. QPR gave us a game purely thanks to Armstrong. We were the better team v Leeds but a mad ten minutes will be punished at this level.

Edmundson, right I'm calling it now! on 13:56 - Sep 2 with 545 views | Stewart27 | Great post. It’s lazy jump on the bandwagon kind of stuff. Probably the same fans who were inconsolable when the extent of his injury came out at the end of the 21/22 season. He was the first name on the team sheet then. He’s a quality player and never let us down when he came in last season despite only playing in patches.

Edmundson, right I'm calling it now! on 07:20 - Sep 2 by NthQldITFC | He was definitely fouled. You can step through the frames on the video and see it. The attackers foot landed on the outside of Edmundson's right heel, pushing his toes into the ground and bending his right foot out. Subtle, almost certainly unintentional and hard to spot for the ref, but definitely a foul and definitely an impossible challenge to ride for a defender. Along with Baggott, Ball and potentially Tuanzebe he provides decent cover for Woolfy and Burgess through until January at least. |
I had thought he was just outmuscled and was a bit critical of him, but if you’re right (and I’m not doubting you) the it pretty much exonerates him. I like Edders and hope he regains top form and really pushes Woolf and Burgess.

Problem here is he was marked out as a fans favourite and elevated beyond what was reasonable. Solid enough, but not exceptional. Last season, he was full of mistakes and its no coincidence that we tightened up when burgess took his place. He's hard done by trying to play a passing cb role on his wrong foot, but there are certainly reasonable question marks.

Reasonable debate is fine. He had a lot of injuries. You're never going to look your best when a season is stop start for you.

I think most of us have noticed it’s a different league and so far we are are doing well in it. We didn’t get lucky in either game. Even QPR Clive said we took them apart in the last half hour. Sunderland? It was a good competitive game and we deservedly came out on top. We weren’t unlucky last week. With that attack Leeds deserved to win. Yesterday? I’ve already said Cardiff deserved a point, but given there will be many a game where we don’t get what we deserve, we take the 3 points and say happy days. As for being at it from the first minute, Leeds weren’t last week and Stoke weren’t at it any minute. Cardiff? Took them a while to get into the game. We are not the worst team in this division. In fact we have troubled every team we’ve played, even Leeds. The defence has its issues, but part of that is the aggressive way we play. They’re not as bad as the dismals like to portray and Edmundson? Give the bloke a chance. Im not suggesting happy clapping and of course fan criticism is part of the game. But I’m saddened that so many people like to put the boot in endlessly on our players. There are some people on here that seem to think every player transferred this summer to every club is better than what we have. They are not. Our players? Not as good as this, not as good as that, too slow, out of position, can’t do this, can’t juggle etc. We are playing in the Championship, not the World Cup. The defending with all teams looks marginal at times - just look at ex PL Leeds last week and Saints this. It’s how it is.
