I've got an irrational fear/phobia of..... 18:38 - Sep 20 with 3773 viewsBloots

...spiders.

I'm comfortable enough to admit it, I hate them.

Anyway, one the size of a dinner plate just ran up my arm. I absolutely crapped myself and screamed like a little girl.

The wife is out, so I've had to spend the last 30 mins alternating between chasing it around the living room and running away when it turned and ran towards me.

Pretty sure I've managed to "hoover" the monster up, but it was under the sofa so I'm not 100% certain.

I've now had to put the vacuum cleaner out in the garage, the wife can deal with it later.

I'm still sweating like a Prince in a Pizza Express.

FFS, I'm a grown man.

I'm pretty relaxed about spiders in the house, or in general, but doesn't change the fact the I squealed like a girl* when I noticed a harvestman climbing up my beard whilst gardening at the weekend.

*or a boy.

Spiders are wonderful creatures, you can guarantee a few are enjoying living in your bedroom whilst you are asleep.

I can deal with them when they are stationary.

However, once they go all Linford Christie - I'm fecked.

I feel your pain down to my very bones.

Currently one residing in my shed, which at first I thought was a rat. So that's a no go zone.

When I bump into a biggun and I am in the house on my own, I stick a bowl over it and leave it there. The Mrs now knows to expect Shelob under there and is under strict instructions to depose of it at the end of the garden on the compost heap...

Hang in there chap, mating season (grim) so they are all out looking for pals atm.

...it was massive.

It had hairy knees and massive eyes.

Probably a tarantula.

On my arm.

It might still be here.

I'm totally traumatised.

That's not a spider, it's a Gruffalo. (One for the mid-2000s parents there)
