Tories currently going big on the anti 15 minute cities vote on 13:56 - Oct 4 by GlasgowBlue | That would be the Forde Report that clearly states: “There is nothing in the Leaked Report (or elsewhere in the evidence we have seen) to support the conclusion that the problem of antisemitism in the party was overstated.” Which runs contrary to what you have been posting for the past few years. Do you really have to do this again? I'm sure Phil won't appreciate it. |
You’re conflating two separate things. There was never a denial that there wasn’t antisemitism in the Labour Party by anyone in the leadership office and the pro-Corbyn staff who write the Leaked report. And that leaked report, the Frode report and indirectly even the EHRC report acknowledge that it was taken seriously. The sordid line peddled by you and others was very different, insinuating that Corbyn et al were antisemites/had turned a blind eye to antisemitism/had encouraged antisemitism so that the Labour Party was institutionally antisemitic and indeed Corbin was an existential risk to British Jews. That’s not even an overstatement but a fabricated, dishonest and weaponised narrative that doesn’t stand up to any scrutiny and especially the evidence. I’m sure Phil would most like you to stop playing your smeary little games. This is an important issue in our democracy that we should be able to discuss without dishonest, bad-faith actors like yourself turning it into your Right v. Left crusade.

“ insinuating that Corbyn et al were antisemites/had turned a blind eye to antisemitism” ‘It is hard not to conclude that antisemitism in the Labour Party could have been tackled more effectively if the Leadership had chosen to do so’ ‘The party as best did not do enough to prevent antisemitism, and at worst could be seen to accept it’.

Agreed. And who was in charge of the complaints process that put antisemitism complaints on hold while they were “hunting Trots”? Clue: they’re the faction in charge now. Antisemitism complaints were addressed and processed in far greater volume and with much greater speed when Jennie Formby, Corbyn’s ally, took over. But why let facts get in the way, eh?

Corbyn: antisemitism in the Labour Party was “dramatically overstated for political reasons”. Forde: “There is nothing in the Leaked Report (or elsewhere in the evidence we have seen) to support the conclusion that the problem of antisemitism in the party was overstated.” Can we please leave it there? It's insulting to the Jewish Labour members who were discriminated against. Stop defending racism. You wouldn't defend any other type of racists. Just left wing anti semites. Tories currently going big on the anti 15 minute cities vote on 10:25 - Oct 4 by giant_stow | As you say, I think they're giving up and washing their hands of the mess they created: "I am a Conservative but I am done with this Government": https://www.telegraph.co.uk/columnists/2023/10/03/tory-vote-lose-election-sunak- Some highlights: "The new Tory Unfaithful are tired of being taken for granted, sick of their views being ignored. Again and again, we have voted for immigration to be reduced. Again and again..." "...a dominant leftist “Be Kind” ideology has captured minds...." "...one can’t help feeling a little wistfully that, unlike Rishi and Keir, Reggie and Ronnie would at least have got a few things sorted in their forthright East End fashion." [my personal favorite] "Of course, a Labour government can be relied upon to be ghastly – I expect we’ll all have our designated pronouns tattooed on our foreheads beneath our Pride berets...." [close second} "My name is Allison and I am a Conservative who wants the Conservatives to lose the next election." [Post edited 4 Oct 2023 10:26]

There is so much to respond to, but I will focus in on one point. "...one can’t help feeling a little wistfully that, unlike Rishi and Keir, Reggie and Ronnie would at least have got a few things sorted in their forthright East End fashion." As it is behind the Telegraph paywall I can't see the context here. Who exactly is she wishing to be abducted and facially disfigured, or maimed, or tortured, or murdered, or disappeared? On a side note, Pearson (I am guessing that it is her) doesn't know her East End history. It was East End working class people of all races who stood up to Oswald Moseley's anti-immigration fascist blackshirts at Cable Street and prevented them from gaining a foothold and initiating a reign of terror in London.

Its such a weird an revealing piece all round. Here's something that helps with the paywall: https://12ft.io/ Scroll down past the menus an enlarge social media icons an then you get the raw text about 3/4 the way down.

And yet you’re still conflating them!! These are talking about two separate things as you know: on one hand certain people in the Labour Party who denied there was a problem or that it was overstated and on the other hand Corbyn talking about the media reports and publicised accusations that grossly overstated the level of antisemitism, throughout the party and especially those on the left and surrounding the leadership. Here’s a plan. You stop pushing your unsubstantiated accusations and disingenuous smears and I’ll stop debunking them. That’ll be better for everyone, including those who are serious about anti-racism and fighting antisemitism.

You brought it up. I haven't started a single post on the subject for months. But if you are going to defend and / or minimise racism then I'm going to call you out on it. Now do one.

I’ll take the tacit acknowledgement that these were separate things. And I’ll step away, tiptoeing through the turds.

My mistake - when they said the party leadership, I thought they meant the actual people leading the party. Thanks for clearing that up.

Labour HQ. Not the leadership office who were criticised by the EHRC for trying to speed up the HQ team’s complaint handling and general non-performance which was interesting to say the least. You should check this stuff out.
