Didn't know we had massimo 10 years ago... on 23:33 - Oct 20 by MattinLondon
My memory could well be playing tricks on me but I don’t think that Mick rated him.
I think he said something about needing a different type of player given the situation we were in. Basically he wasn’t a battle hardened clogger which tbf was what we needed to climb out of the mire then.

It's amazing to think back to when we had him first time round.
Premier League academy player, very technical, good passer, but very slight - you wouldn't expect him to get involved in a battle.
Now he's a bit of a midfield enforcer...but with the quality still to go with it. I've said it before, he's a bit of a midfield Pablo. His footwork is brilliant, both in terms of tackling and dribbling/passing.
The debate for who the best January '23 signing was is a belter. The obvious name is probably Broadhead but Massimo shouldn't be overlooked.

Pretty much, we had too many loans and no squad depth. Saw his goal for us too. What a great night this was

Don't think Paul Jewell shared the view that it was a great night...
But maybe this is another accolade for the team at Town at the moment, a player brought in on loan by Paul Jewell who then undergoes a change of manager and is given a polite 'No, thank you', by McCarthy is still prepared to come back (albeit for somewhere to train and get up to fitness to start with) and give us another go, with the prospect that they could be dropping down a division if we didn't get promoted at the end of last season.
Edit: Quotation mark left off the end of 'no, thank you', hmm, maybe I should have capitalised that 'no'...feck it, I'll do it...

It would be rather odd if he didn't see himself as an entirely different player and the set up under a different owner and different manager some 10 years later as completely different too. It would be more notable if he had gone to work for Mick McCarthy again. I am also sure he would rate him much more highly now (as every manager would).

If we had that version of him now, many fans would be saying "good player but he needs to bulk up more. One for the future "
Which would also be absolutely true. That is the whole reason why players like him get loaned out at that stage of their careers. They get some pitch time at a level they can just about manage in the full knowledge that in the future they will be very good players at that level or above. Sometimes they never really develop beyond that level too.
