Halloween comes from the Celtic festival of samhain. October 31-November 1st. Was believed to be the night when the dead and otherworldly creatures rose and walked the earth. Was probably a orgytastic night of drink drugs and fire etc.Would have been celebrated in England,( the English were 'Celtic prior to the Roman invasion) Scotland, Wales and Ireland over 2000 years ago. Is especially linked with Ireland due to Oweynagat ( cave of the Cats Co,Roscommon) which was recorded in the 9-12C as being the place from where the otherworldly creatures etc descended from on samhain |

Very disappointing turnout last night. It doesn’t seem to have recovered post Covid. Before 2020; the streets were full of decorated houses and kids dressed up. We’re left with a lot of bags of sweets which I’ll no doubt have to eat myself. |  |

Can't stand it, the Wife enjoys it, so she takes the kids out and does the door knocking. Find it funny how we tell kids not to take sweets from strangers, yet...
What really grinds my gears is older kids in their late teens/early 20's doing it, I was playing a tennis match last night and was grabbing my bag as the doorbell rang, 4 adults stood there with scream masks on not saying a word, I said can I help, they continued to stare so I told them in no uncertain terms to foxtrot oscar otherwise I was going to practice my pre-match serves on them.
Feel for people that are vulnerable as it can be intimidating, especially as most don't adhere to the pumpkin protocol and just knock at anyone's door.
