I am sure there was a time when it was exciting watching England.

Just dull and has been for a while.

The results under Southgate have been mainly excellent. 2nd most successful England manager I believe. The football at times is very sideways and the fact we didn't blow Malta out of the water is disappointing. He needs to freshen up the squad a bit and forget all about some of the old guard. As a whole, he is doing a good job, just not as good as maybe the players could be. A bit more positivity and less sideway and back, then a major is just a matter of time.

Im sorry but lol.

How about the scotland game for a start.

I really enjoy watching england now. Bellingham and kane especially. Yes last night was poor but thats football and being humans not overly engaged in that game.

Sadly we will get some comments like this when town drop off a bit too

Your last sentence is likely to be proved correct unfortunately.

You have to go back a very long time to find competitive World Cup qualifying games. In 1974 there was a very good game against Poland. People didn’t like that either.

Hunter’s indecisive tackle( unusual for Norman), and Shiltons’ poor decision to come out of his goal. Poland were no mugs though, came 3rd in 74’.

You’re confused
Take your time, read it again

You wrote 'The current England are rubbish'

World Cup semi finalists and Euros finalists would suggest otherwise.

Not the smartest, eh?

Yes I agree .Think that midfield was not good enough for international football especially as the whole team seemed to lack motivation, probably as they have qualified. Looking forward to seeing Bellingham, Palmer, and Rice in future games when the whole team are up for it .

Yep. Even had Souness waxingly lyrical about England.

The current England are rubbish/boring Southgate out narrative is completely deranged.

And having read your post again, I apologise and take back what I said. Sorry.

Who's world class now? IMO Kane without a doubt. Bellingham on the verge of if not already. Saka has the potential to be but not at the moment.

Can't believe Rice doesn't get ccategorised as world class. Arguably the best central midfielder in the world. I would say that. Kane, Bellingham, Rice, Saka, Stones, Walker and Foden can rightly be categorised as world class.

There is an argument for Nobby as well but I don't think him and the rest were quite at that level. A world class FB would be at Cafu or Roberto Carlos level and a world class DM would be at Beckenbauers.

Can't agree on Styles, as much as I admired him as a player.

For me he was the epitome of the player told to "win the ball and give it to a footballer". Very good he was at that but that didn't make him world class for me.

Different times of course.

Not sure why Bellingham isn’t there already. He’s a permanent fixture in the Real team and current top scorer in La Liga with 10 in 11. He’s outrageously good, and I think if you picked a 23 man World Cup squad from all the nations then Kane & Bellingham are both in it. I can’t think of many better in the world than them right now.

Beyond those we’ve got some very good players in Rice, Foden, Stones, Walker, Saka. They would get in most squads. We’re ranked 4th in the world for a reason and I don’t think too many could argue with it given our last 2 world cups were a semi and a quarters (losing narrowly to France). Had we beaten France I think we would’ve also beaten Morocco in a semi. Most recent Euros was a final which we lost on penalties to Italy. Don’t really get the hate, we’re as good now as we’ve been in my lifetime.

Trent is not a world class full back, his defending is suspect and his pace is average. He does however have superb vision and passing range. I think he could be world class as a Pirlo like deep lying playmaker.

Friendlies and qualifiers have always been rubbish, as have tournaments until just lately. Unless you are going back 50 years or so.

Not watched a friendly or qualifier for years and years now. Most are pretty pointless and the players over hyped at thumping Latvia 5-0.

Just stuck to the tournament games which largely have had good reasult without being very imspiring. Still to beat a "good " team in the recent ones.
