Unfortunately 15:33 - Nov 22 with 11354 views | yellowrider | it was very easy to obtain security passes for the event on Dec. 16th although it seems we'll be stuck behind one of those awful pillars again obstructing the view! So myself, Yellow Rider Junior and a fully fledged Yellow from Mackem Land will run the gauntlet of anticipated abuse. Should any of you wish to meet up before to have some banter and chat about all things Yellow and Blue then I could be persuaded to hang around at the BR statue and greet you. Mind you whether Suffolk Plod would understand, let alone allow, such pleasantries is doubtful!

That's my experience too on 11:08 - Nov 23 by Dyland | There was a bit of argy bargy outside the North after a recentish game against Villa, with a couple of very overweight Town twits in tight tops getting a pasting from a Villa fan. It was broken up by an old lad, not sure if he was Town or Villa, but he was obviously 'experienced'. All a bit handbags but it was clear the Town fans were spoiling for a fight without really wanting a (or being able to) actually, you know, fight! Pathetic. Another one that sticks in the mind for some reason was on Wembley Way in 2000, a fat pissed up Barnsley fan was trying to start a fight with anyone and everyone Town. A burly Town fan picked him up firmly but gently and carried him over to a group of Barnsley fans, who stopped him from continuing the aggro. You can sometimes tell the ones who can handle themselves from the fact they aren't letting fly; the loudest ones tend to be the most useless with their fists. |
Wembley maybe brings the worst out of people. I saw a nasty one-punch fight at an Orient game between two Orient fans - the guy went out cold - never seen any trouble at any other Orient games ever (c 70-10-ish games - gawd knows over the years). Edit: Tell a lie: at an away game in Leeds, a nasty Yorkshire boy was giving me the cut-throat gesture all game, but then that didn't get physical! [Post edited 23 Nov 2023 12:16]

Ain't this the truth. I went to a game a few years ago (not town) and there were people doing coke and smoking a joint in the deeper rows. Disgusting behaviour, they didn't offer any for the rest of us.

I agree wholeheartedly about binmen Blooters on 10:39 - Nov 23 by Dyland | However, the insult comes from a tramp finding a Town hat in a bin and wearing it, from a Lovejoy episode, non? So binner, rather than binmen. It's still a really feeble insult though innit. |
...it was the binman wearing the hat in that particular episode. The late great Warren Clarke. I believe his character got into a scrape with the lovable old rogue, Lovejoy, over some priceless antique he had found in the bin. Lovely stuff.

Not to be disloyal to my comrades, but the binner thing has always been stupid - its one of the most socially useful jobs out there and I'm glad people are up for it.

Never heard that Wembley story before but it is very much in keeping with the day. The Barnsley fans were great from my experiences.
