I see Billy Sharpe is a free agent come Jan 12:45 - Dec 1 with 3553 viewstextbackup

And yes I would absolutely take him on a 6 month deal.
Experience, fir as a fiddle, goalscorer… he be a massive upgrade on what we have on the bench to bring on for Hirst.

Same. Would have loved him to come here 5 or 6 years ago when there was a slight chance of him signing.

He's 37 and managed 2 goals in 38 appearances at this level last season. If we were signing the Sharp of a decade ago it'd be a great bit of business, but not now.

He would last about 3 minutes, being asked to do what's expected from a forward in a KM side. I'd rather give a youth teamer a run out than see us sign a 37 year old..

Would he run more than ladapo, yes
Is his touch better, yes
Is he a better header of the ball, yes
Can he hold it up better, yes

If it’s him or ladapo, only one winner, even aged 37

Hopefully we find a 27 year old new Sharpe however

We can definitely upgrade on Ladapo but he scored as many goals in 60 minutes against Cardiff as Sharp managed in the whole of last season. And I think comparing a 37 year old Sharp to Ladapo, some of your yes answers are misplaced.

I'd love to see us go after Sinclair Armstrong.

Arguably the player who has caused us more problems than anyone this season that would cost less than £5m - but he may already be above that.

Has the pace, strength and work rate you'd love in McKenna's system and feel he'd score goals in this team. He's going to be some player. Saw him at Loftus Road and a couple of times since but probably already being looked at by other clubs with deeper pockets.

Whoever we get, they need Hirst like attributes of being able to get in behind, hold it up but most importantly work their backside off.

What parts of his game would you say Ladapo is better at, out of interest.

Would he run more than ladapo? No - he's 37.
Is his touch better? Potentially, but would he always be in position quick enough to receive the ball?

I think we need someone that can really compete with Hirst for a starting place and can play in a similar mould. Sharp is a decent poacher off the bench and will probably go somewhere and score a few goals but not what we need IMO.

At 37 he isn't going to be running more that's for sure. Ladapo is probably better in the air and hold up play I doubt there's much in it these days. Sharp probably still has a better touch, that's one of the last things a player loses.

I can see a League 1 side taking a punt on him, would be very surprised if he finds his way back into the Championship. In his pomp he was class and gutted we never managed to get him here then, but I wouldn't take him now.

Could end up somewhere like Rotherham or Huddersfield I reckon. Assume he probably still has a base in Sheffield so nice and handy.

He wouldn't run more than Ladapo, perhaps 7 years ago he would. His body would give him ten minutes at our intensity.... Arguably his first touch could be better than Freds?..Fred is good at holding the ball with back to goal.. I don't see him as an upgrade on Freddy, and certainly not a player that could do what Hirst does.. Dare say his wages wouldn't be cheap. And he'd need a bit of time to settle into our playing style...
I'm not saying we couldn't do with another striker option. But a 37 year old has been, isn't the way to go, imo. And certainly not an up grade on FL, imo, either...
Have you seen how fked a 24 year old George Hirst is, after 60 minutes? In what world is a 37 year old going to replicate that, for 10 minutes, let alone 20 or 30 minutes.. He'd probably get injured from trying to keep up after a week on the training pitch.

Yeah that's not a bad shout actually, could possibly do a job for one of those two. Definitely not what we need though.
