Jan. Tranfers in and out? 20:55 - Dec 4 with 16377 views | hyperbrit | Assuming that McKenna has four players in mind to bring in like last year ,what position would they be and who would have to leave to make room for them? [Post edited 4 Dec 2023 20:57]

Jan. Tranfers in and out? on 11:12 - Dec 6 by lurcher | McKenna stated that he specifically wanted him as a player in the squad for the season. If he drops out of the squad his relationship with the squad players will change as he will become coaching staff. He is only expected to play in an emergency, his role is to be more like a union rep or a deputy captain. He is approachable in a way that coaching staff are not. |
Fair enough, and he does go and train his nuts off every day and was even doing so on morning of Exeter game last year when not in squad etc so clearly a good influence I don't think we'll get that tight up againsty the 25 to be honest to need it

He can still do a job from the bench should injuries bite. He did OK when played in the cup. Might get a run out against Wimbledon.

With the exception of Burns we've also been quite lucky with availability for those 10/AM roles. If one of them were to pick up a knock that kept them out for a while then Aluko is in the matchday squad and picking up some minutes.

Jan. Tranfers in and out? on 10:41 - Dec 6 by itfcjoe | I think players who are in danger of going are: Evans - if injured until end of season then may just be deregistered Aluko - similar re de-registration Edmundson - at end of window if Baggott deemed ok to step up but feels unlikely Ladapo - Feels an inevitability that we bring in a striker and let him move on permanently Donacien - If Humphreys staying here rather than going out on loan, and happy to be used as a LB then little need to have him here and we may be able to get a fee which helps Williams - if off field stuff doesn't improve then he may not be here until summer |
Joe, what's the deal with the off field stuff you mention about Brandon Williams?! I know about the social media post regarding Norwich, but let's face it, we all lap that kind of stuff up and it's a sure way, on his part to become a fan favourite... We all know it didn't go to plan for him at Nodge... What's the issue with him sticking it to them?

Jan. Tranfers in and out? on 11:02 - Dec 6 by lurcher | McKenna stated at the start of the year that he would be in the 25. He wanted him as an actual player in the squad training day in day out. I expect he will become part of the staff at the end of this season. |
I missed McKenna stating this role as a go-between so explicitly, and that this was his key job. Surprised to be honest. I’d have thought Aluko could easily play matches eg if we had injuries to both Chaplin and Broadhead - even if only for 50-60 mins. [Post edited 6 Dec 2023 20:59]

Jan. Tranfers in and out? on 21:49 - Dec 6 with 3055 views | ChampionsofInnsbruck | Hayes Donacien Edmondson Ball Aluko Ladapo … are all possible candidates to leave either this window or the next. It’s a shame that Edmondson has not had too many opportunities in the Championship because he’s not a bad defender by any stretch, Donacien too probably can feel a bit unlucky in that he was one of our best players we had two seasons running and again can’t get a look in anymore.

Evans Aluko Ladapo Donacien No way we’d want to mess with the defence. We have four good centre backs and Burgess is missing. Really don’t get the negativity around fridge. We absolutely need quality competition for Chaplin/Burns/Broadhead and Aluko can free that option. See also Evans for CM. Then just upgrade the full back and the Hirst alternative and it’d be a hulluva window. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

...the best call so far imo.McKenna clearly wants players to be able to cover several positions (aka Clarke who can be an excellent holding midfielder but can still be an attacking threat). The players who are bench sitters at this point are surplus to requirements except in a crisis. Wimbledon is the last opportunity to find out who they might be. Thank God that idiotic pizza cup is gone as is Papa John himself who has been booted out of the company.

things should be much clearly by the end of the month because those are the teams we have to be able to compete with, and whoever said the draw for players in the Championship is that Town offers a ticket to the Premiership and there are still some seats left. Forgot about the Derby where the pressure is off the charts. Town should have been up 4-1 by halftime. Sadly there are still players that need three chances to score which they will not get in the Premiership We know who they are now. Can McKenna coach the nerves out of them or not that is the question? [Post edited 21 Dec 2023 20:48]

listening to McK today I would say 4 in 4 out. My conjecture at this point is it will be very much like last year: 1. CB capable of playing right or left FB as needed 2 striker 3. MF 4. your guess is as good as mine.

after yesterdays debacle the handwriting is on the wall. We are where Wednesday was just before the Jan. window . They did nothing of note and paid the consequences. McK will be watching to see which players are up to the challenge and which are not in the next two games ,

Jan. Tranfers in and out? on 09:07 - Dec 5 by gordon | Yep - don't think there's much logic to saying that Jackson ought to leave - at the moment he's probably third or fourth choice centre-forward and third choice right-winger, is pretty reliable, knows the system inside out (fans always underestimate the importance of this, good managers don't) and has the potential to have a lot of impact when he comes on with his pace. It's the same with Donacien - obviously he's limited as a footballer, but McKenna knows them both really well, they know the system really well, and churning squad players for the sake of churning squad players is precisely the opposite of the approach that has taken a muddle of a League One team to 2nd in the Championship! Having said that, who knows if Jackson would be a useful makeweight in a deal for Poku. |
I don’t think it’s a position we’ll upgrade yet but on your Jackson/Poku point, MacAnthony tried to sign Jackson the summer we bought him so that could be a potential deal in the summer.
