Surprise signing 10:36 - Jan 8 with 3269 views | bournemouthblue | I know this hasn't been the strategy under gamechanger so far nor do I expect it to suddenly change, a few people have mooted a player like Keiffer Moore who would probably do a job But what if a more high profile player became available? The gamechanger personnel have had the likes of Drogba and Shaun Wright-Phillips at Phoenix Rising and that may just be a publicity stunt, however don't rule out these guys pulling something out of the hat here You never know! I suppose it all falls down to McKenna who doesn't seem the sort to bring in an ego, albeit a quality one

Three main reasons why this won’t happen… on 10:42 - Jan 8 with 3153 views | Bloots | ….firstly FFP limitations. Secondly our squad is already a bit “bloated” and at its limit in terms of size, we can’t have any more passengers. Finally, we aren’t a circus show.

Surprise signing on 10:46 - Jan 8 with 3064 views | _clive_baker_ | What's good for Phoenix isn't necessarily what's good for Ipswich. We don't need publicity, our ground isn't big enough for us as it is. The golden ticket for us is promotion to the premier league, that's where the big return is. In the US the remit is very different. We need players who will give us the best chance of picking up 40+ points in the last 20 games of the season. We've made decent progress in the window so far, I like both of our signings for different reasons. We just need that forward (or 2) who can come in and fill the massive George Hirst shaped hole now.
Surprise signing on 10:50 - Jan 8 with 3018 views | Basuco | KMc and Game changer have a specific player profile, high potential, quality, low twenty something, plenty of room for improvement, definitely not past quality, now has been, on the decline, type of player.
Surprise signing on 10:59 - Jan 8 with 2876 views | IPSWICHFANITFC | You never know, it isn't something that we are ruled out of doing financially under the ownership and they may be thinking now might never be a better time to take that risk sitting in 2nd place with a highly regarded manager in charge and just do what needs to be done now because a high profile player has become available.

I very much doubt McKenna, Ashton or the Gamechangers would bring anyyone in as a passenger, especially when there is a promotion at stake (which isn't the case with the USL). That having been said, I think Drogba was more than just a stunt, with his personal/professional input as well as playing ability being a boost for the team. However, it would be much harder to gain that kind of an edge in the EFL Championship.

well maybe its a case that he hasn't settled into German life, finds lederhosen chaffs his legs and longs for a decent pint in a proper pub

Surprise signing on 12:02 - Jan 8 with 2198 views | OldFart71 | Kieffer Moore isn't mobile enough for McKenna. Hirst is not the fastest, but he has scored a few one on one's. Answer is "Don't panic Mr. Mainwaring" Have McKenna and Ashton let us down yet ?

Yes. McKenna only got us to 98 points.

I agree entirely there and often the first you hear of a signing is when they are through the door I wouldn't completely rule out a known player though, provided we think their personality is right and they will show the right attitude

Let down no. But as normal for all clubs our transfers have been hit and miss so its no cert the signing is gonna work out. The hits Davis. Broadhead, hirst. Luongo. Etc The misses. Piggott. Ahadme. Edwards. Harper. Camara. Scarlett ( strangely), ball, Williams ( has to be a miss really)

I agree that is the plan, but a short term loan of someone who has previous in this division shouldn't be ignored. Firstly, I'm not suggesting for one minute this is going to happen as he is out of our wage budget, and I can't think of anyone else right now, but if say Ings was available on a loan, I'd much rather go for that, than an up and coming 20-23 year old player in League one currently to lead our line.

Piggott predates McKenna? Camara has been unlucky, everything has gone wrong there. Ball hasn't quite worked out, not that he has ever let us down really. Scarlett was a gamble but probably worth a roll of the dice Williams is too early to say, when he had that little spell and scored that goal, he was starting to appear unstoppable and I suspect he'll still be very important for us this season (if he isn't recalled) [Post edited 8 Jan 2024 20:48]
