So, I'd love to see us promoted, don't get me wrong. 11:24 - Feb 26 with 7259 viewshomer_123

But I've been wondering if I would enjoy watching us as much in the Prem. Yes, we'll get to watch some world class players at PR again but I have this nagging, niggly feeling that it won't be anywhere near as much fun as watching us over the last couple of years under KM.

The heart and soul of the Club was slowly and surely extracted from the Club under Evans stewardship. The link to the fans became tenuous at best. The community and family that the Club once was, lost as Evans had little to no interest after a few years of ownership.

Lack of investment off the pitch contributing as much as the lack of investment in the playing side of things.

Yes, we are now owned by an American pension fund but since Ashton et al came in the Club has rapidly and effectively built back up those links to it's fanbase, to the people that have long supported and followed the Club. Add to this the work KM and the team have done on the pitch is nothing short of miraculous.

And here's the thing - my nagging feeling is the squad will change significantly when we go up - these players have delivered so much and watching them, week in and week out, improve both individually and collectively is quite a sight but I don't think this team can really compete at that top level without major changes. It's not a slight on them or me being negative, it is just what it is.

I have enjoyed, so much, watching this group of players play beyond what, I am sure, even they believed they were capable of doing. KM and team have not just developed their footballing and decision making abilities but instilled an ethic, an approach if you will, to football that is something to admire.

I fear it won't be the same as the core won't stay the same when we go up. I rather lament that thought.

I've been lucky enough to watch us under Robson, Lyall, Burley and Royle as well as others. Given where we were not just on the pitch but what had happened to us off it. This group of players and what they have done with the help of Ashton, KM and the team deserves to go down in ITFC lore.

We are simply a joy to watch as we go about our business. That trepidation, excitement and nervous energy you feel on the way to ground, for me at least, is well and truly back.

Don't get me wrong, I am sure in the Prem it will be similar but I don't think it will be the same and right now, I don't want that feeling to change.

Yes. I knew the figures I'd seen were quite old. It's hardly the promised land, is it?

Don’t forget Sunderland spent 10 years in the PL and were relegated with debts well over £100m, despite their great attendances. Bolton? Look what happened to them.

It’s the promised land if you manage it well (see Brighton).

I think some felt the same about this season. Many definitely felt the same after our playoff win.
As a fan living abroad, I think it will be extremely difficult to get tickets for matches when I happen to be over. The TV schedule will be annoying and I don't know what would happen to Town TV if we do get promoted.
The fight for survival might turn into a grind and be rather different to our current form. I still want to be promoted, but I think these last two seasons will feel more special to me than the premier league. The Championship is just so exciting because you never know who will be challenging and who will be struggling.

To be fair, there's a few posters who are STILL prone to claiming that some of our players aren't good enough for this level, despite us being joint second with 72 points from 34 games.

Some people just can’t be satisfied. Been absolutely unbelievable this season.

You make so many valid points. I mean ask Burnley fans if hey enjoyed the champ or the prem more.

But I think such a large portion of our fanbase has never seen the prem, it would be great to see it. Also we are clearly a well run club and there is always a chance you could become like a Brighton and sneak in to the conference league, which looks great fun. So its a bit of a mix.

The way the club is run now you have to imagine that the money that we would get would be put to good use and set us up for the future even if we do get promoted. If we follow the Brighton model and just be a showroom for Chelsea, we can buy decent prospects like Leif Davis, develop them and sell them on and gradually build on that.

Anyone who says, "I'd rather be in League One", is making stuff up.

It was a horrible place to be, and I for one, never want to be there again, with its sh1t officials, sh1t pitches and Andy Holt.

The only good part of League One was leaving it!

Disagree. I think in all honesty the such and such player isn't/is a Prem/Champ/L1 player is a load of old nonsense. And whilst McKenna is an outstanding manager and coach, he can't perform actual miracles. If the players at his disposal didn't possess the physical, technical, and mental qualities needed to implement his style of play at this level then we wouldn't be sat joint second after 34 games on a points total that would, in any normal season, see us coasting to automatic promotion. So I don't personally make the negative nellies right at all.

Couldn’t have put it better myself, he is Kieron not Paul . Those players posses the ability, they all bring it out of each other. Such a team unity and spirit, shame it doesn’t rub off on the fans who look for a negative, rather than enjoying all the positives.

I think the trouble is that as a club you are either moving forwards or you are moving backwards. There has to be an element of constant evolvement. It doesn't mean that you will enjoy the PL anymore than you have that's true. But you have to accept that we cant stand still.

Although of course they would still like to see an entertaining style footy at PR at the end of the day Gamechanger didn't pay thirty two million for the club, then millions on and off the pitch just for the hell of it. There as we all know was a ulterior motive. To make money and the only place to be to make mega bucks is in the Premier League. Also players like Al Hamadi are being plucked in the hope that they can be sold on for millions more than was paid for them. I don't know if Gamechangers end game is to sell the club, but if it is that's someway down the line after development of the Stadium and a team that can hold it's own in the Prem. I see your point as many fans don't want a Town side that is just cannon fodder for all and sundry in the Prem and us being a one season wonder or even an up, down, up, down club.

I don’t see there being whole sale changes. We’ve diligently added to the squad during each window each time choosing to build slowly. I also saw something somewhere saying that us and Leicester were playing at PL level in terms of stats and approach.

There will be additions for sure but nothing disruptive. I’d welcome the PL again. Then, on to Europe…
