Just managed to bag another season ticket for next season on there, thought they’d all sold out

We’ll be good again... one day

Going from that it's the seats above Block D that will be taken up by away fans in Block C. If that's accurate rather than a 'placeholder' map then that'll take a fairly decent bit of work - pretty sure the right hand side (as you look at it) of Row H is the furthest back the 'lower' bit goes before you get the front of the walkway behind it, but that plan makes it look like it's going into one fluid bit of stand with an extra row added, although it jumps straight from H to J.

The bottom half of Block E's been taken off as well, which is a bit odd as surely away fans would be given that whole block.

Some fairly big chunks of seats removed from the West Stand Upper blocks as well - going to be quite the renovation around the place.

Hopefully those who have to move get told soon, not least because Ashton said they would!

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

That's interesting regarding the press box - I hadn't realised that it was being moved as well as extended. I'd assumed that it would just entail more seats being subsumed into the current setup.

Is there any suggestion that the current press area might be converted back into additional standard seating, or is the new area likely to be in addition?

Existing press area in blocks Y and O has been replaced by RV seating.

So it has, good spot!

That would explain, then, why the press box has been moved forward; I didn't realise that the 'old' press box was in an RV area. That said, won't they have the usual sight-line problems with the near touchline wherever they put it in the Pioneer?

From what I was told it's moving forward to the area indicated wholesale, so assume the existing seats will have become available. Most of them are restricted view though.

Just realised my comments are superfluous! I wondered the same re the touchline, however, was always a problem from the existing press box anyway, particularly with more and more cameras appearing in front of us.

I did manage to see the changes in the Pioneer Upper, and as stated they've created a large press box, at the front of the stand, North Stand side of the centre circle.

Looks like quite a few fans will be asked to move.

Press box always seemed to be too far back, and with restricted view as others confirm. And indeed the seats freed up in the press box are restricted view! which is nuts if you think about it.

Anyway this thread has added zero value. i apologise.

No it’s helpful. I’m second row from the front in the West Stand and was fearing the worst, but I’m the Sir Alf side of the halfway line, so it sounds as though I may have dodged a bullet

why did it matter the press were "restricted view" although Ive sat up there and the view was fine but in theory theyll all be watching the game on monitors :)

View was pretty crap, really. If you're in the centre it's largely OK but still restricted towards the corners and along the near touchline but other than that, there are girders in the line of sight, often in the way of one or other of the goals.

So are the current seat occupiers of the new press box location going to be thrust into the "pretty crap" seats in return.Likely to be some long-term season ticket holders that have stuck through some terrible seasons affected by this.

What they have stuck through is irrelevant, as per Ashton, the work has to be done. It can't be stopped or avoided.

I assume not, I'm sure seats will be found for them elsewhere.

Going to be tricky to find equivalent seats (there is a reason TV want them) given the high levels of occupancy elsewhere and the fact that the decent seats will be already taken. Seems somewhat remiss and rather dismissive/unfortunate for those likely to be affected by such a sweeping change. Likely to be several hundred long-term supporters impacted at the front of the west stand upper. The reason they hold these seats is that they've consistently attended through both the ups and downs over a good number of years.

What's the alternative though?

Kick someone else out of their seat to accommodate supporters based on length of time a season ticket has been held?

Would get very messy and I'm not sure the ticket office would want the admin involved.

Mark Ashton, "Please don't complain, this work HAS to be done for us to be in the Premier League, there's nothing can be done about it"

Not saying it isn't needed. Subtle difference. More intrigued as to what is offered for those affected as an alternative. Will be easier to watch McKenna ball in the Amex ;)

It is unfortunate. You need something like 100 seats for independent press in the Premier League and there aren't really many places they can go in the ground.
