Lucky no one jumped to any conclusions then…. on 18:10 - May 27 by Vaughan8 | To be honest, there won't much any of us could do and very few knew anything. It's not even been confirmed he's staying and until it is, I'm not counting any chickens..... I did think he was going to go, and I think there must have been something in it. He might even have wanted to go but somethings happened? No1 really knows (yet!) [Post edited 27 May 2024 18:10]

Sometimes actions speak louder than words, so well done Schwarz for getting on a plane - this may be the only time I'll ever laud someone for doing airmiles. There were only ever two possibilities in my mind - KM either to stay here, or go to ManU if asked (and who could or would blame him if the latter happened? Not me). [Post edited 27 May 2024 18:23]

Is that an "I Told You So" of "I Told You So" ?

Lucky no one jumped to any conclusions then…. on 17:44 - May 27 by BlueBadger | Worth pointing out that the 'auction' unedifying as it was, was carried out pretty much entirely by third parties. KM himself has kept a dignified silence throughout. |
3rd parties? As in KM’s agents? You make it sound like the agents are acting independently.

Lucky no one jumped to any conclusions then…. on 18:22 - May 27 by FrimleyBlue | Not really. I don't think I'm of those who acted in the specific manner that you speak of. But hey ho. And you're 2nd point. I'm assuming you've decided to ignore what Phil etc has said about palace etc. Either way. We can all be happy. But let's not ignore he's clearly not here for the long haul if he actually gets the offer he wants. [Post edited 27 May 2024 18:23]

I don't why you're getting so arsey about all the press speculation. You've spent most of th last two years desperately wanting him gone.

Lucky no one jumped to any conclusions then…. on 17:30 - May 27 by nrb1985 | I don't think that's fair. Lots of people were disappointed in the public auction, myself included. I agree the people saying "I hope he's booed "etc were are well wide of the mark in my view - but we can both be very happy it looks like he's staying and somewhat disappointed about how the last 7 days played out. We have most definitely got the right result in the end though and MA and the board again showing us their commitment and abilities to get extremely tough deals done. Well done to MA, Schwartz & co. |
I think on balance it is. The board has been unbearable the last few days. Whilst I understand some people can be unsetteld by uncertainty, the bobbins that has been posted has been ridiculous and despite what some say, you don't have to dig too deep to find various anti KM comments. I think it's served to unearth an unpleasant underbelly of supporters who will turn their ire at the drop of a hat. This time it was KM. Next time it might be MA and I dare say one or two players will get it too when we lose a few games next season. My response isn't directly aimed at you, but at some fans in general. I thought we were rock solid as a fan base, but this unedifying spectacle this week seriously calls that into question. At the first hint of trouble, some quarters seem to have completely fell apart. I couldn't agree more with your last para BTW. [Post edited 27 May 2024 18:42]

Lucky no one jumped to any conclusions then…. on 17:48 - May 27 by FrimleyBlue | Not really that dignified that he's nearly left twice tho is it Badger. Great thats he's stayed of course. But think he needs to stop the whole I love it here stuff. It's obviously just a job ( which is normal ) He's now a ridiculously paid manager, well earned of however. But let's not just ignore he's easily lead away from the club it appears but then something stops it happening.. ££££? [Post edited 27 May 2024 17:51]

Don't agree with this sentiment. Very possible to love a job and still be conflicted by offers elsewhere. The latest revelations should, in my opinion, cause people to reflect on their more emotive visions of McKenna's tenure here: the 5 more years stuff, walking in Robson's footsteps, unquenchable ITFC thirst.. it seems more accurate that he is driven by a love for his work and the desire to give himself the best career possible, neither of which is remotely ignoble. And yet he showed significant loyalty in February, when rejecting Palace at the death. This didn't result in a new contract and we were fourth favourites for promotion at the time, with Southampton and Leeds both ahead of us. Jumping ship to Olise and Eze was arguably the much more logical, self-interested choice, as much as it could have been devastating for us. So to my eyes at least, he's demonstrated that he isn't prepared to place personal goals or financial reward above all else. Many would likely have jumped. This summer, I imagine financial security has had an important bearing on his decision to stay, because we're the far less stable option in respect to league security. It wouldn't surprise me if we've offered better terms than Brighton's next manager will receive, once all is concluded, but I'd be very surprised if Kieran's enjoyment of his time here was irrelevant to his decision. If the only attraction were ££££, I seriously doubt he would have stayed. Brighton will be offering £££ at the very least, in addition to one of the safer seats in the top flight. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
