Could be a good option.

Pace to burn and can play on either wing, so good options.

Would also mean we are less exposed if Burns was out for long periods.

Leeds paid £25m for him. Presumably we wouldn’t so can’t see that as particularly realistic.

Past transfer fees are not necessarily reflective of the current value. The headline figure is also often not the true figure (add ons etc).

That was 3 years ago, they are likely to need to sell players to raise cash, and he has spent some time on the bench.

I wouldnt say its unrealistic.

Its certainly an asset.

And we know that KM improves players technically and tactically.

I’d hope we are setting our sights higher than James, failed at Man U, couldn’t hold down a regular spot in a relegated Leeds side, or the one that fell apart. All pace and little end product for me.

Be interesting to see if KM does go there, assume he would have coached him at United . . .

100% NO!

Flatters to decieve other than his pace. He doesn't get starts for a champ side, he isn't going to be good enough for us.

He's also a litlle diving rat and doesn't strike me as somone who would fit into our dressing room spirit.

In our position, we cant afford the players with no room for improvement.

Thats where KM comes into it.

He's had a good season at Leeds.

0.46 goals per 90 mins this season. Plus 7 assists. I wouldnt call that no end product.

Need to recalibrate our sights a bit I think. James is in no way not good enough for Ipswich. His pace would actually really suit the system. Leeds are quite loaded in his position, but he's a decent player and more than good enough for us in the Prem.

He's had a few seasons in the Prem hasn't he and not really quite cut it.

He's proved at Leeds this season that he is most effective coming off the bench.

United, Fulham and Leeds all in the Prem....and not quite managed to do it.

Only 25 or 26 though...KM might well know if he feels he can get something from him.

This is where KM comes into play, with his improvement of players.

I'm not suggesting he's the finished article, I just think he could be useful.

He's played a decent amount of minutes, many of those having started the match.

.....and we all know KM likes players who can make an impact from the bench if needed. Our last two seasons were built partly on that.

I don't think so, Burns is better and I'm sure there are better players out there who'll cost us less.

Leeds are likely to sell Summerville for big money so that'll address their financial needs and James will then become more important to them.

Now McKenna seems to be staying then Hutchison has to be a realistic target in that position and has far more about him than James, who I'd say has pace but a limited skillset

Someone like James is what we’d be having as a Jackson upgrade. But at £10m plus I think personally I’d like to see someone slightly better.

I'm not saying he's a Burns replacement.

I love Burns, but I'm not sure Burns is def better, and we need more than one option.

Burns is 30 early this season, and was showing the strain of the workload last season. We'd be foolish not to have options.

Not sure you'll get better at £10m. (If that was the price).

And it would be a MASSIVE upgrade on Jackson.

We might have a decent budget but we're not going to be paying £10m for a Jackson upgrade FFS.

James' end product leaves a lot to be desired too.

You claimed it was a Jackson upgrade.

He is way more than that.

You clearly have little knowledge of James. He scored nearly a goal every 180 mins this season, plus 7 assists. Thats decent end product.
