Having seen what he was capable of with us, wouldn't they now want to keep him for themselves rather than loan him to a club who are in the same league? |
A couple of my best friends are Chelsea fans...earlier today one of them sent me a list of half a dozen players around the same age as Omari who play wide / No.10 as he does, and they've paid £10m-15m for each of them. Get the impression the club has no idea how good they currently are / can become - just stockpiling in the hope that they can loan them out and then move them on for a profit. Maresca will obviously know how good Omari is, but doubt he'll have much of a say if Chelsea decide to move him on. |  |

That's right, though they'd still make a hefty profit.
He signed for Chelsea from Arsenal in 2022 for £5m on an initial 3 year contract to expire in 2025. So they would have amortised that £5m over 3 years, so as of end of June 2024 two thirds of that will have been amortised (£6.66m), so on their books on July 1st, on their books, he's a deficit of £3.33m.
If we paid £18.33m for him on July 1st, Chelsea's profit would therefore be £15m. Pretty good I'd say.
Chelsea have taken the option to extend by a year, so contract now to June 30th, 2026. Depends what was in that contract re pay rises - Chelsea could have it in the contract that he stays on the same money for that extra year. If his Agent had done his job, they should have insisted that if Chelsea do take the option to extend the contract, his wages are renegotiated, or possibly go up by a certain %.
I'm surprised they didn't offer him a new, 3 year minimum, contract. The boy is obviously going places and in my opinion by only extending it they'll end up losing out.

I think it would have to be an obligation to buy rather than an option for Chelsea to even consider it.
