Watching the Champions' League final 08:39 - Jun 1 with 7761 viewsMark

It used to be free on ITV, then it was free on BT Sport's YouTube channel, now I read we are expected to sign up to an account with Discovery+ to watch it without charge. I won't bother. How poor of UEFA to allow this huge match to be so hard to get for people not paying TNT £30.99. These days I just ignore European club football.

It's really not a rubbish match at all. Dortmund really have Madrid's number but they'll do well to keep it up. Been quite a few chances, a bit more quality from Adeyemi and Dortmund would be cruising.

Interesting game but quality in the final 3rd has been awful for a champions league final.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

Calm down.

I don't think you have to pay to watch it. Just need to create an account on discovery+I thought I read?

Also I'm not sure why people think this should be free for everyone. Unfortunately uefa is only.interested in the money, like a lot of top end football.

They don't have to show it free, just BTSports and now these new people are.

Bootlicking. All the champions league was free to watch and it was stolen from us like so many other sports.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

Making a hash of a 1 on 1 chance with the keeper was shocking.

The game is pretty rubbish to be honest. If you are not watching it, you are not missing anything.

From what I’ve seen it’s been excellent

Agreed. Madrid have to bring on a centre forward, it'll be Joselu I guess. Limited player but just about their only player who can get on the end of crosses.

That’s harsh, but if you don’t take your chances when you’re on top. A bit of salt in the wound as well considering Vinícius Júnior shouldn’t still be on the pitch.

Tbf it doesn't work on smart TV, only works on phone.

Feels like a bit of a scam.

Using firestick, I uploaded it directly onto my smart TV.

Took 45 mins tho - slow to install, then kept getting error message for email or pw which it was imposs to back-track on, no keyboard, & & all my details had characters at all 4 corners of the selection box! Seems it didn't like my email address, maybe I'd used it before.

Need a reminder to cancel it in 2.5 months' time, just in case❗️

After all that, only watched first few minutes of the game - found it visually disturbing, looked like Leeds v scum 😱

I think there may have been an agreement when BT/TNT took over the contract from ITV/Sky that the final would be shown for free. I know it is free on Discovery if we give our personal details on their website, and for those know how to do that (which many elderly people won't). I just believe major finals should be free for everyone to switch on their TVs and watch. If Ipswich get there one day I would like everyone to see it.

TNT is £30.99 a month according to their website. It may be cheaper alongside other subscriptions on other platforms. I expect Ipswich will be on there a few times next season.

I wasn't really that bothered about watching it but inbetween the bloody disturbing viewing of Insomnia and the new weird Rebus I thought I would flick it on.

..........only to see that I have to sign up to Discovery +

Now then now then, it may be free to join up but I can't be arsed and I haven't got the time.

So then. Up yours UEFA!!

The Ofcom list is old hat now really, including the Derby & Grand National (nobody watches the Derby apart from racing fans & I guess the bookies want to keep the National on terrestrial TV so that the once a year punters still have their flutter), the men's & women's singles finals at Wimbledon, the FA Cup Final (trying to pretend it's still a national event), the Rugby League Challenge Cup final (really?) .
For me, the only ones that should remain protected are the World Cup & Euros finals (national teams involved) plus the Olympics.

I disagree, as reducing the list only takes sports away from people who cannot afford subscription TV (while a footballer gets a £128m signing on fee). We should show more top sport on free-to-air TV, including the Champions' League final.

Agree, it's a vicious spiral - the less exposure some sports get, the less popular they become. England Test matches, particularly the Ashes home and away, need to be on the list.

Bit churlish to complain about something that’s free.

And any match is free if you’re prepared to look for a download.

The Ashes in Australia are usually played between midnight & 6am UK time. Hardly anyone wants to watch that live. But yes, agreeing a highlights programme on terrestrial TV would be a good move for cricket.
