Cobbold Stand - D Block 16:49 - Jun 1 with 7022 viewsLA_Tractor_Boy

Just seen a photo on Twitter which showed the stairwell removed and seats ripped out of D block in the Cobbold Stand.

Guess that means this section (and the seats behind) will now be used by away supporters.

Feel sorry for the long standing season ticket holders, but this should really help the atmosphere.

I'm assuming the away area covers half the stand, so that stairwell was at the point where a low segregation barrier/netting will be added.

Its really going to change the dynamic of the stand as Block D was where the 'hospitality' guests were sat. Been in there a few times, there was a nice lounge below for drinks.

C Block is basically now the hard, up for scrap, bating the away fans crew section....

Tartan rugs and thermos' discarded - now D blockers will barely watch the game just goading the away fans for 90 mins - like animals! mass ejections.. feral

The majority of D block season tickets are personal season ticket holders! I’ve been there for the last 9 seasons. Disappointing if this is how we find out that we’ve been hoofed out!

Yes we borrowed two 'hospitality' season tickets from an acquittance. From memory we got a free programme and hot drinks at half time thrown-in.

To be fair to the club, they have no choice on this, and have a lot of planning in how they are going to contact fans and how to offer alternatives.

We may all be getting the wrong end of the stick, and much D block will remain, but I do think the Upper Cobbold is going to become a very different area to be in, with the huge increase in visitor area and introduction of safe standing!

Have you a preference where you'd want to go, is a request to move came in?

Trouble is, there’s no real alternative in terms of view and match day experience.

I guess we’ll find out fairly soon..

I'm sure the club have this in mind. D Block isn't a normal season ticket - own entrance, lounge/bar beneath, best views in the ground.

So you'd expect an equivalent package.

Again we may be jumping to conclusions, and D Block remains in some form.

My Dad sits in there, the most expensive padded seats, free programme, team sheet, free coffee direct and exclusive access to the Center Spot.

Not sure they would want to sell prime centre line seats for £30 to away fans.

You had to enter through the hospitality entrance in whatever the Centre Spot is called these days..is it called Burleys now? It was a very odd entrance.

Might be more to do with maximising the hospitality on both levels there.

Vomitorium. Or so I recall from the early days of gamechanger when, as I recall, they did talk about doing something with the vomitoriums. Maybe this was it.

I am Block X in SAR Upper. This area is being expanded and two extra rows inserted where there are currently four, to make it a 6 row block. The club advised me that the legroom we have had was not part of the stated benefits. They couldn’t tell me whether the existing armrests will be retained. They don’t really know.

To be honest they know they need to create a certain amount of extra premium seats, within a specific space. I thought the extra seats were for relocating those premium seats in the West stand and not D Block. I would expect them to have been informed if they were moving! The images shared would concern me if I sat there!

Personally, I paid the extra for all the benefits that X block brought, but mostly the view. That will change slightly, but no chance to roadtest that until much later in the summer. Basically I have to suck it up.

Yeah there was an annoucment on x block a couple of weeks ago.

Looks like D block is being expanded to me (for home use) and as someone else mentioned access is via the main Burley Bar/Center Spot entrance.
There is no way away fans are going to get access via that route.

My daughter sits in the first row after the padded seats in SAR Upper (seat in front of her is £500 a season more!!), we’ve heard nothing about a move yet.

Have those moving all been contacted yet?

I thought there are six premium rows at the front of SARU anyway as she is row G?

The 4 premium rows were A to D. The next row behind D is G. They are not moving. Just 2 extra rows inserted within the current 4. The ‘premium’ element is definitely reduced through the reduced legroom. It will be roughly the same as a normal row going forward in terms of legroom. Still get the padded seat, programme, hot drink voucher. But as you say the value for money will be somewhat less now when compared with a seat elsewhere. I expect I will move come 2025/26 renewal.

Hopefully, the club are upgrading the bar in there. There's so much potential to make it like an American Sports Bar selling burgers, hot dogs etc. And add a load of screens to show the early kick offs, rather than just the 2 that you can't see if you stand by the window.

Had one there for 20 years.

No way they remove D block entirely. Most expensive/profitable tickets in the ground with best view although when E block was used for away fans it became a bit more ‘interesting’

Imagine it’s just an upgrade to seats and other work as they were ancient

How do you just slot in a couple of extra rows?

Surely you need to have the correct steps in place for the seats to be fixed to?

Must admit I have been wondering this as we are in Block X.

I find it hard to work out how they will manage to get 2 extra rows in. The legroom isn’t that big and as you say, the steps will have to be altered. It seems a hell of a lot of expense for a hundred or so extra seats.

We have paid over £600 for seats that are now basically going to be the same as anyone else pays!

They are remodelling the whole zone. The legroom will reduce from current 104cm to 70cm - ticket office advised that. They cannot confirm whether the armrests will be retained. To assist in relocating the 750 displaced season ticket holders. At least we are not being moved to a whole new area. I am sure we will make a judgement call on it during the season and decide whether we wish to stay in Block X or move for a lower price.
