And then the following, although to be fair, it may be unrelated:

I'd imagine the latter may be referring to nonsense like the below.

I hope she runs as an independent.

Fair enough.

In the meantime, all the great and good of Twitter are getting involved now, including a proper ding dong between Owen Jones and Creasy.

For whats it worth, I hope she runs as an independent too - the only reason I've seen for her deselection was that John Stewart skit, which doesn't cut it imho.

Has the candidate not been deselected for antisemitism/liking antisemitic tweets etc?

I saw getting loads of grief today for snapping a Labour canvasser outside her home and she didn't come off well there. Presumably the fight has taken a toll on her if people are standing behind her.

Iain Duncan Smith is desperately hoping she'll run as an independent.

The canvasser thing shows she's taking it pretty badly I think. Its obviously just an innocent mistake but an enthusiastic volunteer - no need to kick off and photo her.

"Has the candidate not been deselected for antisemitism/liking antisemitic tweets etc?"

yes, thats the story, but the only tweet I've seen as a case in point is the John Stewart skit - maybe there were other worse ones to like, but to me at least, the skit wasn't antisematic.

GB, you're dead right, duncan smith will be loving this, but depending on the above and how bad the tweets she liked were, perhaps Labour high command needs a little nudge?

Not a particularly pleasant person.

Oppose Sajid Javid's politics by all means, but joining a pile on basically calling him an an uncle tom should be beneath her.

I'm not massively clued up on it, but I think the Guardian reported tweets as far back as 2014 prompted a complaint from someone in Jewish Labour. Presumably, there was and found to be a track record of these.

Her own words seem to point to that. I have to say the fact she's put all this in print and seems to throw lots of emotive stuff around does her no favours. I just did a google and this was the top result https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/article/2024/may/31/faiza-shaheen-labo

I appreciate the far left cull narrative, but alongside the vandalism, none of it makes her look good or a decent candidate either. The alignment with Diane Abbott also doesn't work in my opinion.

Hopefully it all comes to light in a clearer and more edifying way.

Indeed.

While all this happens "Do not underestimate the determination of a quiet man" as IDS would say.

Who’s that? Anyone of any note, as that’s bang out of order unless he’s got rock solid evidence that she has been encouraging these sorts of attacks? Can’t people on Twitter just condemn the attacks - surely everyone is against things like this?

Indeed, Private Eye gave him the name “Iain Duncan Cough”.

Would that more be a comment about him being bland, rather than a comment on his relationship with white people?

the only effect of running against the labour candidate will be that ids gets back in.

there's a newsnight interview with her after the 2019 election where she was firmly in the it was everyone's fault except the leader's camp. i struggle to believe that she approves of labour's current platform. if she were a labour mp she would behave in parliament as an independent. but it'll still be a great shame if she prevents ids from getting the defeat that's coming to him.

And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

Absolutely not. I suggest you read the thread. Her comment was one of many in a pile on suggesting Javid is a coconut. Here's an example.

treatment of faiza by the party has been absolutely abhorrent. its so clear from what material was cited against her that its a factional cull ( https://www.middleeasteye.net/news/faiza-shaheen-dropped-labour-liking-pro-bds-c

i mean for god sake one of tweets cited was with regards to her experience of islamophobia within the party. and to boot the new candidate parachuted in from the NEC and is a starmer aligned councillor from barnet with 0 local connections. she's a brilliant woman and harpin's comment is just another in his long line of islamophobic remarks (remember the 'shaking off the fleas' rubbish he trotted out)

He's a client journalist for right-wing Labour and spends more time attacking left-wing members of the party than the Tories.

Seems like a lovely chap. Caught up in the phone tapping scandal too, bit not charged, apologies - edited. His dishonesty since is damning enough.
