Bold decision to annoy the highest paying ST holders isn’t it on 15:05 - Jun 4 by Stenvict | I only saw the email a couple of hours ago, and have been trying to contact the ticket office since, but it doesn't even ring, and just cuts off. 1. Have you chosen a new seat (presuming you got through) 2. Were you offered money back? I notice the seats in Block X are £150 less than what we've already paid for. |
I was on the line 10 am on the dot and was 10th in the queue. My work phone kept being unable to connect but personal one did. I was on the line for 20 mins and then got cut off at 2nd but can't be sure this wasn't my signal as had been fine until then. Fortunately my friend was also in a similar position in the queue and managed to move us all to the new block X seats as our accounts are linked. I got an email confirmation shortly after with the price as - £150 so assume that will be refunded. Not sure how good the general availability was (or is now) but we got 3 together. Could have just been very lucky.

Bold decision to annoy the highest paying ST holders isn’t it on 12:52 - Jun 4 by textbackup | ‘should feel lucky and privileged given how many people have been unable to get them’ Oh ffs give over. Some of these people were paying £700+ to watch utter sht with 13k in the stadium. They should have been communicated too MUCH better, and absolutely deserve to be treated better. I’m sure some would be unreasonable still even if they had been told, such is life, but the club should have been better in this situation |
Pretty sure the club have done all they could. Its not as though they want to annoy the supporters deliberately but there is a lot that goes on behind the scenes. I am one of those who paid to sit through dross, but that gives me no greater rights than anyone else and lots of people havent been able to set a ST and would bite off someone's right arm for one. Ultimately if people don't want to move they can hand their ticket back or accept there is no choice and enjoy PL football.

Bold decision to annoy the highest paying ST holders isn’t it on 14:24 - Jun 4 by Stenvict | The club should have informed us of this possibility well before we renewed our ST. I presume I won't be getting any money back when I move to a cheaper seat. And I can't even get through to the ticket office. What a shambles. |
I suspect it was a case that ST's were renewed before we know we were promoted and before these changes were finalised and necessary

Why would you assume that? They would have no basis to charge you for a level of service you would now not be in receipt of. I fully expect you to be reimbursed for any difference in price between D block and wherever you end up.

I’m sure people will be reimbursed. It goes without saying and the6 probably won’t say. My ST DD was adjusted down automatically for next season. Nothing sent to me or from me. My account just showed the change.

Not sure the ticket office has caught up with the Gamechanger revolution just yet. Only been two real points of tension over last couple of years, and they have both involved communications from the ticketing department. They told us there wasn't 400 tickets sold and given away outside normal priority for Norwich but they never did come back and share the number. Perfectly reasonable to expect a bit more notice of this change, suspect they got rushed after the twitter leak. They had enough time to plan the work, sign a contract with a contractor and complete a good chunk of the work. But no time to tell the supporters impacted. Ticket team need to take responsibility here (although in their defence, they are probably not that happy to be working in a 20 year old portacabin).

Add the consistent announcement of ticket sales with less than 24 hours notice to that list, makes it much harder to co-ordinate purchases given the necessity of using a tiered system. It does seem from the comments in this thread that the club have got this move from D Block a bit wrong, it was probably inevitable but the communication hasn’t been good enough. And some other fans do need to accept that, as good as things are at ITFC at the moment, the club will get things wrong and those fans affected are entitled to be upset about it. There’s a sense of place and community to having a season ticket in the same place for many years, that’s important.

What a sht attitude to have towards fellow supporters. Didn’t see this sort of attitude towards a bunch of old fans that create no atmosphere when they refused to move for BA to take up an area in NSL… but then I guess they ‘only’ pay £400 for tickets [Post edited 4 Jun 2024 19:37]

Bold decision to annoy the highest paying ST holders isn’t it on 19:53 - Jun 4 with 1885 views | Cheshire_Tractor | I have to say I feel a degree of sympathy for those moved. If it had been the South Stand moved I would have been upset if our upper tier seats 5 rows back (we've had 20 years+) would have gone and we ended up with seats far back as a replacement. I just hope the offered seats match what has been lost. I know the club is forced into this but surely most of the best view seats have now gone.
Bold decision to annoy the highest paying ST holders isn’t it on 00:29 - Jun 5 with 1666 views | BtreeBlueBlood | The cost of premiership football! ? Enjoy the football at very reasonable prices at itfc! Wolverhampton Wanderers has called its season ticket price hikes "crucial" in a statement responding to a backlash from fans. An online petition against the plans to increase ticket prices, some by 190%, has more than 14,000 signatures, with the organisers claiming fans had been left disillusioned, angry, and frustrated. The Premier League club responded with a frequently asked questions page, external on its website, where it said it was increasing prices "to align more closely with comparable clubs". The club said the revenue increase was a "crucial step" in achieving its goals and continuing to compete at the highest level. Wolverhampton Wanderers chairman Jeff Shi in the stands before the match IMAGE SOURCE, REUTERS Image caption, Club chairman Jeff Shi said that commercial growth was “vital” for the football club's sustainability and competitiveness Wolverhampton Wanderers said: "This year, the review showed that our adult prices were lower than most, while junior prices were among the lowest in the league. "To align more closely with comparable clubs, we decided to increase prices." The club said the adjustment meant that minimal increases or price freezes would be possible in subsequent seasons. Addressing why the highest price increase was for junior tickets, the club said it felt this still represented "good value" and was much closer in pricing to that of its Premier League competitors. According to the club, prices for those aged under-14 previously averaged at £5.50 per game across the ground, and for those aged under-17, averaged £11.50. With the new pricing, under-14 tickets will range from £9 to £16 per game, with under-17 tickets ranging from £11.50 to £20 depending on the stand. 'Ashamed of club' The club added: "Season ticket holders are crucial to Wolves, and always will be. Wolverhampton is not a major tourist destination, so local and domestic fans will forever form the core of our supporter base, and match going fans are without a doubt the heartbeat of the club." Simon Wheway has been a devoted fan of the club since he was eight years old and was taken to a match by his father. He first bought his grandson a season ticket when he was two-years-old for just £25, which gradually increased and was £105 last season. However, when he got the renewal email for his now eight-year-old grandson's season ticket, the price had jumped from £105 to £305 - an increase of 190%. "They are removing the fan base of the future which leads me to believe they just don't care, as they will have sold up before it hurts them," Mr Wheway said. Lifelong Wolverhampton Wanderers fan Scott Phillips told the BBC he feared his son may no longer be able to attend matches after the price of his season ticket rose by 190%. For a spot in the Billy Wright stand, Mr Phillips used to pay £835 but he now has to decide if he will pay the new £939 cost. Neil Dady, the Football Supporter's Association representative for the Wolves 1877 Trust, said: "Wolves supporters are ashamed of our club for what they have done to their supporter base."

Don’t think anyone is suggesting the club deliberately wants to annoy supporters, I’ve not seen anyone be ridiculous enough to suggest that. It’s a necessary change and unavoidable, but I think it’s just a case of how it’s been done, a lack of empathy and poor comms. Similar to the shareholder comms IMO. A learning I would say tbh. Doesn’t detract from all the great work we’ve witnessed and enjoyed over the past 2 years, but like all ambitious and successful organisations hearing constructive feedback is important.

I agree Clive, I’m sure there will be some learning to come out of this from the Comms aspect in terms of how you present something. From what has been said on here, they haven’t got that right. Ashton’s tone didn’t help even if he was factually correct. I’ve been largely sympathetic to the club on this though and I still am. It is easy to criticise, but there is no easy solution. It’s the equivalent of getting a quart into a pint pot and not a very good pot at that. If you’ve ever tried to organise anything for any sort of numbers, you will know how hard it is. Without clear, almost brutal (but polite!) instruction, a tidy percentage will ignore, contradict, go against, argue. Some will be accommodating, others utterly unrealistic and unreasonable. Human nature. With the numbers involved here and what the club is having to do, it is a nightmare job. I understand that certain people pay for premium seats and the length of time they’ve occupied them. Personally, I don’t think that makes them any more or less important than anyone else. In fact you could argue that a child with the cheapest ST, one season in, is more important as they are the future. In fact everyone is equally important which is why I found the suggestion of booting out other people to accommodate social groups of displaced people a poor idea, even aside from the fact that you potentially double the workload. The biggest learning point for all though is the football ground itself. Venerable, historic, atmospheric, characterful - it’s also in a state underneath the new paint. In terms of historic, the only but of it that is still there since I first went is basically the ground on which it sits. It obviously needs a lot of work. Hopefully the events of the past few months will help propel that - without the financial disasters of 2001 and the early 80s.

I don't really understand what the club could've done differently. If I had to move I'd shrug, select a new seat, and get on with it. Apples and oranges that comparison.

Surely for the Block D superfans the least they should get is a grovelling personal visit from Mark Ashton.
