Best signing announcement ever on 14:14 - Jun 5 by PhilTWTD | Not overly concerned or upset by your post, if that's the issue. Didn't see that subtext behind the tweet, that's all. You'd be missed on the forum if you did depart. |
As I mentioned in my email, Leitrim has persuaded me to stay but maybe I will take a bit of a sabbatical, or not be so prolific.

Best signing announcement ever on 14:34 - Jun 5 by Dubtractor | Me too. Both of us subhuman scum. Just to add the the discussion, unconscious bias or discrimination is a very real thing, and probably every single one of us has been guilty of it more than we'd like to admit, but I genuinely don't see how it applies here. The way I look at is someone sees two black men behind a tree with something in their hands and assumes because of unconscious bias that they are drug dealers. That unconscious bias fits with a racist trope that black men are drug dealers. https://metro.co.uk/2021/07/22/the-impact-of-being-mistaken-for-a-drug-dealer-be They post that in a Tweet, everyone who sees it believes it, and no one thinks to challenge it perhaps because of a more understandable unconscious bias as they have been pointed in this direction by the comment in the original Tweet, and the Tweet is at face value funny. Incidentally, if you see my original post, it was aimed at the comment in the original Tweet, not at people's reaction to it on TWTD. What I suppose I was surprised about is that no one acknowledged that there might be something in what I said even when I had pointed this out. I might add that I knew a black trainee lawyer in the Treasury who had been stopped by the police 20 to 30 times when driving in London over a period of only a few years. In contrast, in fifteen years of driving in London, I had only been stopped once when I slightly swerved into a bus lane. EDIT: Part of the issues with my comments may well be that I have made them on the football section of the website, rather than the general section where an issue such as this might normally be discussed, so maybe the solution would be to switch the entire thread to the general section, assuming there is any mileage left in it. I think if you left the word ‘black’ out of your first sentence there wouldn’t be an issue. I honestly didn’t see the colour of their skin - but I did see the hoody and what looked like surreptitious glances. It was the body language and exchange of something that draws attention. I honestly think you’re over thinking this. Ps, glad you’ve had a rethink about leaving - your a good ‘un on here!

Best signing announcement ever on 16:32 - Jun 5 with 923 views | Reus30 | I guess no one has a seen a rizla (or other brand of papers) before. No drug deal here. Fake news. I can see DJR's point to be fair. I know that I didn't look at what colour their skin is and most decent humans (like the good folks of TWTD) wouldn't either but it's X - a good chunky number would have done. Surprised it's not a headline in the Daily Fail yet.
